If you mean that peaceful revolts have never gained anything I have to disagree, look at the
German revolution for example. But unfortunately I have to agree that peaceful
revolt or protest is getting more and more difficult and senseless. You make no impression shouting at a fenced off free-speech zone while the media
is ignoring or ridiculing you.

I think a lot of the energy that traditionally would have been used towards protesting and revolting in the streets is channeled online, complaining
and theorizing. It reaches a lot of people, but with little real life results yet. Hopefully some
peaceful event will trigger the critical
online avatars to send their real-life identities out on the streets to bring real change.
