news.yahoo.com...

I guess this would have gotten more attention if it were US troops killing Afghan civilians.

I didn't see this thread until you brought it up in the other one jerico.

One of the slain was from a town a few hours from me. Her death came as a shock to many, but sadly I was not surprised. It just shows how desperate the Taliban has become, as they are now targeting the very people that are trying to help those afflicted from the war.

I am finding one thing strange about the article though.

A spokesman for the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahed, said men from his militia had ambushed a two-vehicle convoy in Logar carrying "military personnel, most of them female."

When I read about this incident in my newspaper, it qouted the Taliban saying that they knew the women were aid workers, but shot them because the Taliban asserts they were working for the military. Probably just a mix up of information.

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately, no one here really seems to care about something like this happening, unless it was US troops that did the killing. Then there'd be all sorts of moral outrage.

I think the reason most topics like these don't get much attention is because people expect the Taliban to pull of vile stunts like this.

Coalition troops are supposed to be above senseless killing, they are supposed to be "spreading democracy" since that's apparently why we are in the middle east (except for the few of us that know its all for oil and also for strategic reasons). Coalition troops are not expected to drop to the Talibans level and commit war crimes.

So that is most likely why threads like these don't get much attention jerico, while threads involving the coaltion troops get more replies.

That shows that when it comes to the middle east no even aid workers are welcome, this people were traveling with not safety at all.

Afghanistan is a terrible danger zone this people should have been escorted by some type of security.

No wonder the red crescent and red cross are not moving around either in Iraq and Afghanistan due to safety concerns.

Sad news.

Man oh man. This is sad indeed. I think Ben put it nicely, so I have no more to add really.

In conclusion, all terrible deaths should be reported equally. Life is life no matter who or where they come from.
