Cigarettes fund the war?

As I just lit this cigarette a thought hit me, does anyone know exactly why cigarette prices climbed so drastically? I know this sounds stupid but I think that cigarettes are funding Georges war. Imagine all the people that smoke and cant or just dont want to quit and how much money is made off the nearly 2$ increase in price. If this money goes towards funding the "War on Terror" it would be a nice chunk of change annually to fund the war. I dont know, any opinions would be nice.

Our greedy government claiming that they are increasing duty to put people of smoking...FOR OUR OWN GOOD...

When really they know it's one of the few pleasures we haveleft in life so are gonna keep doing it and throwing more coffers into the exchequers pocket.

That's my view, and now, I'm gonna light up...

To hell with the nanny state and their lies.
