While I can appreciate all you're doing, SO, it's frustrating to say the least that this happened to begin with, let alone losing every one of the U2U's I had saved.

Only thing I can say is that it's a good thing I have a good memory for them, and that I saved them only to fall back as reference points.

Keep up the good work, and thanks for getting the new U2U system up so quickly.

I found out through the old one, I had an APPLAUSE I didn't know about while the old system was fried, so I smiled at that, at least.

I lost all of mine... no problem, I was going to delete them anyway. But I am wondering why some accounts were wiped out, and others were not touched at all? Is there a list of members whose accounts were compromised? Perhaps we could find a commonality link as to why this happened. Do you think someone or something outside of ATS is involved in all of this???

S.O., what's up with your new avatar, and why is the ATS logo upside down with a distress flag leaning to the left?

Thanks for making a way for us to access the messages we had been saving.

I hadn't realized how much good stuff I had accumulated until it was gone!

It was a kind gesture of you to do it and much appreciated.

As near as I can tell, if you attempted to access ATS during the outage and/or extremely slow periods, your U2U records were in danger of total corruption.

While the site certainly appeared to be "down" in a hard way, the database server was still running, and stacking up queries in the queue... it's just that the queries were taking over 800 seconds to process. If you can imagine that on each page-load of the board, the code checks to see if you have unread U2U's, and at that point a query involving your U2U's was added to the list and thereby endangering your data. I'm not certain this is the case, but the only commonality among those who lost data appears to be a very-recent "last visited" time stamp.

Do you think someone or something outside of ATS is involved in all of this???

No. And I've had our contract IT staff confirm it.

Could it be related to the problem that I had of the U2U button never disappearing?

I could never know if I had new U2Us because the button was always on.

That's right LA, and I'm totally comfortable in my "applause/rush loving U2U's" skin.

I think someone is just upset that they didn't get to read their 'Springer' applauses before beddy bye time. lmao

S.O., Thank you for the quick reply... I went to bed around 2am CST that night... right before everything broke loose. There was so much going on that night CT wise, weird and weirder.

I think I understand the logo thing, but it might be part of some puzzle too which seriously dampens to effect you might be looking for. Perhaps if the members knew it was NOT a puzzle, it would be more understood and taken more seriously.

Bright Blessings to you and yours in these dark days...

MY question is:

Was our IP address assoicated with our U2U info and were our IP addresses compromised to some outside source?

Thanks Helmutt for directing me here...This explains alot.
I guess I will just have to deal with it now.
I had my U2U limit increased a while back. Does that stay where it was?

S.O. RE your new avvy...I can feel your pain
what with this U2U system and the other previous glitch (don't worry, I wont mention chat)

I think, judging by what SO said before, that the IP address is only linked to the posts, not the U2Us.

As U2Us are linked to the posters there is no need of having the IP addresses in the U2Us database.

At least this is how I would do it.

I seem to have lost my U2U's from Jessica Alba,Uma Thurman and Milla Jovovich.
If you can't find the u2u's just tell them at the next ATS party.. I'm a bit busy but I PROMISE to call them back..

Blummin hassling me at work..

ATS seems to be much faster in general now. that's really good. so good things come out of the bad! as usual ^_^
i figured a good way to save the old U2Us which I'm doing is copying and pasting them in a new composed u2u and sending them to myself. That way they will be in my new box. just thought id share!

You are aware that the new system deletes messages with more than 45 days, right?

Will the new U2U system have the same storage capacity as the old one, for the members who purchased the extra storage space, with their ATS points?

It will be unlimited in size but not in time, as far as I understand it.

No limit on the number of messages we can have, but messages older than 45 days are deleted.
