President orders end to Russian military operations in Georgia

Speaking on national television, he said Russian forces had punished Georgia and restored security for Russian peacekeepers and civilians in the separatist South Ossetia region.

it appears the Russians are going to make fools out the Georgians - after all their rumour mongering the Russians have pushed them out of the invaded areas, created a buffer zone and destabilised their military.

Georgian President has been made an absolute fool of. Russia has behaved well and done the \"right\" thing in the face of European propaganda of outrageous proportions.

Russia is no Angel, and the west Europeans are even further from it, but thsi time they have done the right thing.

Makes me wonder if this doesn't tie into the thread about Georgia not receiving any help from its allies (USA).

Might the PTB have known the ultimate outcome of the offensive?

If they knew the purpose and end results of the assaults, this may attribute to the 'lack of' support from the US and other allies.

I suspect the reality behind this situation is a lot of american military general, realising they would die, told the neocons "F*** No" on this one, allowing the conflict to simmer down.

Glad to see cooler heads prevail on this one.

Another hypothesis is this was all staged with the russians, with the sole interest of keeping oil prices high...
