Is it just me or does the big dipper constellation seem really, really big tonight?

Do stars seem closer or farther apart based on where the earth is? I wouldn't think our small orbit around the sun would change our perspective on stars that are lightyears away, but that seems to be the case.

If someone wouldn't mind stepping outside briefly to confirm my suspicions or lend an objective opinion I would appreciate it. But do bundle up; it seems oddly cold for the time of year.

unfortunately here in Vegas the city lights drown the stars. I can't even see Orion or the little dipper which I've practically memorized

I couldnt agree more with the odd coldness out of nowhere we got today. Sadly enough I can't make out many starts or even see the metor shower due to light pollution
