I won't use examples, but we all know that the rate of "change" in the world has increased exponentially. Each single year during the 20th century, our world changed more than it did per century only a few hundred years before. I expect that before this century is half over, we'll be tripling that rate of change.

The rate of change is interesting. I am not sure that the rate of change seeming to speed up is not a product of humans being interconnected and therefore more informed about current news as well as being able to pool resources resulting in increasing scientific breakthroughs. The world has always changed just as our culture has always changed.

I agree about mans adaptability but would add that evolution is not an even process and different cultures create different frameworks of what is normal or not normal. I've been exposed to the possibility of aliens and visitors from other worlds my whole life meanwhile someone in rural India may have never heard of such a thing. I wonder how the reactions would differ. The person in India might just see it as something new like other new things he sees that enter his small piece of Earth from time to time. A person in an urban area with access to the internet, schooling and
abundance might be shocked because they thought they knew everything AND they have been conditions in many movies and other cultural literature to fear aliens.

Then again maybe it is easier and perhaps more pleasant to come upon the reality of interstellar visitors rather that demons from hell as punishment from god.

I've never bought into the concept that there would be any kind of panic if there were disclosure. I think that most people would be fine with the concept.

With regard to religion why would people be upset? If god (which ever god or gods that you believe in ) can create people why wouldn't he/she have done this in other parts of the universe?

Now, if our planet were being attacked, then I could see a reason for panic.

Then again, perhaps I'm one of the people that has been conditioned to accept the concept of advanced civilizations.

We'll just have to all wait and see.

Now, if the existence of these extraterrestrials is not benign then perhaps there is a reason for not disclosing their existence.

If beings from other planets are coming here and harming people perhaps disclosure would bring about panic etc.

Especially if our technology is not sufficiently advanced to protect ourselves.

If you take a step back view both Pro's and Con's of disclosure that you listed, the PRO's, hands down, are much better in my opinion by a long shot. Any breakdowns that will occur will be righted. We have to move toward "humanism" just for the simple fact that it's needed for this planet to grow as one. No more wars, no more hurting other human beings. If no more wars then govenments don't have to worry about having the upper hand in secret military technology. (If only it were that simple. :lol

I tend to agree with Wildbob. I think that disclosure would not disrupt life in the planet to much of a degree. People would still worship the religion they choose,go to work to feed they're families, ect. I think it may bring countries closer together, knowing we are not alone and our silly differences are mute.
The problem I see is whenever an advanced civilization meets a simple less advanced population, (if that were to happen) the weaker population usually becomes extinct.

Now I hope ET isnt still pissed for us trying to shoot them down back in the day!

On the topic of disclosure I totally believe that they [TPTB] are damned either way because if they DO disclose well then 5 mins later they will be dangling and twitching from a roadside lightpole for having deceived us for so long and on such an important matter.....AND if they DON'T disclose and we collectively find out anyway then just imagine the consequences [re: strange fruit!].

The older folks might have some of the reactions you mentioned, panic being one. But I don't think the younger generation would act similarly. I would hope we are a little more rational than that lol. I don't see any of those problems really, and I don't think those would happen even in disclosure. Most adults I know wouldn't care.

More that half of the world's population survive on 2$ or less a day. Having an internet connection, a house and a bed, puts you in the top few percent of people not simply scratching a living.

Out of those people who are comfortable enough to spend time not scratching enough money to feed their family, only a small fraction want to see disclosure. For the overwhelming majority of the people, disclosure would matter little. i don't think that most theists, for example, would comprehend what the truth about aliens would mean.

The idea that Rabbis, priests, clerics, etc would immediately hang themselves is a tad dramatic. Religions would do what they always do when reality threatens their superstition - reinterpret their book to justify the decision of their leaders.

I think the main worry on behalf of the government and shadow government would be the lie itself. If they can lie about this, what else have they lied about? It would cause a mass movement, which would have profound consequences for the nation's powerful elite.

I do not agree at all with the theorie that people all over the world would be in shock and chainreactions will follow.

In a few days it will be business as usual; going to work, get the kids to school and cooking dinner. People will be curious and hungry for info about ET life, but not shocked or something: deep inside almost everybody know where not alone in the universum.

People will be shocked after they discover the lies from world governments about ET contact in the past. Thats gonna give chaos and riots, and lynch parties.

I too see this happening...Many are already mad as hornets because of recent lies that have come out. For instance, Iraqi oil was supposed to pay for the Iraq War? The Border Fence is being built? I too think TPTB are afraid to disclose what they have discovered, and I think it goes a long way further than that....The Earth is going through death pangs, and TPTB would much rather people were distracted from what is really going on. If ET came here, and wished to take off certain individuals, the rest would surely riot. People are going to be freaking out when the first shift happens too. Just replace the word "Lord" with one of your choosing. I am certain that the Ancients called the Annunaki people "Lord" and I believe the name "EL" has that meaning. Now look at this:

We will be changed, operative word, in a flash. to me this means we will all pass into a new dimension, there is also reference that people will cry out to the mountains to kill them, and they cannot die. We are all immortal, people, that which animates our bodies is not human, it is spirit, and it cannot be destroyed, ever.

I had to reread that post twice to think in terms of the implications and that those who argue tooth and nail that conspiracies don't exist, and that their is no ruling bloodlines over our heads, its just our actions, as this democratic system is representing us. These same people jump on the bandwagon that we aren't ready for dislosure. Oh, so you mean there is something over our heads then eh?
