"Russia completely devastated the port of Poti on the Black Sea, which is a key port for the transport of energy sources from the Caspian Sea and is close to the Baku-Supsa pipeline and the Supsa oil terminal," the Saturday statement said.

We all know this is really about the oil, even though its hard to find mass media that talks about it.

The Poti port is very, very important for controlling the flow of oil in the region. Its no accident that the Russians bombed it.

Very very true, on the news earlier in the evening they said that "US interests" were in Georgia. "Interests"? Really? Oh brother.

The bombing of the port also prevents anyone or country from supplying reinforcements or supplies to the Georgian Government. This isn't Russia first time at the dance.

The Russian Foreign Minister just gave a really quite smug interview to the BBC. Those cheeky Russian scamps.

Seriously, though, this is all a bit, well... mental.

The US will not attack Iran. Just won't happen. Israel? Probably. Russia will most likely rough up the Georgians, and keep troops there until they feel that the people in South Ossetia are in the clear.

You need to understand something. Whenever a region conflict occurs, people here on ATS start proclaiming: "WWIII is imminent! LOOK! I have all the pieces put together!"

When North Korea tested their nuke, people flipped out and thought WWIII was coming. When those British Sailors were captured by the Iranians, many more people thought WWIII was on it's way. Last year, with all of the hubbub with Israel/Lebanon/Syria, a bunch more people were certain WWIII was coming (even the media!).

And now we have this. I know Russia is a world power and it seems kind of overwhelming that a nation with such a large military projection could be the missing link for WWIII to start. It's just another conflict, they happen all the time and all over the world.

They know what they are doing alright, Russia just seemed to be waiting for a fight. They are nicely flexing their muscles and showing the world that the US isn't the only country that can go around invading countries with a bad excuse and getting away with it.

As short as the Russian army comes on a technological warfare front compared to other superpower-esque armies, a fight with them is guaranteed mayhem and it looks like they want the world to know it.

This is good stratgey by the russians you wanna hurt the NWO? hit them where it hurts the most-the wallet.
