What is up with this?!? Personally I think this is wrong to make a contest out of this, lol...

The Swan

WOMEN GIVEN UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO REALIZE THEIR DREAMS
IN THE SWAN, PREMIERING MONDAY, MARCH 29, ON FOX

The Unscripted Television Series From
FremantleMedia North America and Galan Entertainment
In association with A. Smith & Company Productions
Promises Life Transformations -- Inside and Out
FOX will debut THE SWAN, an unscripted series that turns a fairy tale into a reality and mirrors the classic tale of the ugly duckling that transforms into a beautiful swan. The series, produced by FremantleMedia North America and Galan Entertainment in association with A. Smith & Company, will premiere Monday, March 29 (9pm/8c) on FOX.

...

Each of the contestants will be assigned a team of specialists -- a coach, therapist, trainer, cosmetic surgeon, dentist and stylist -- that will work together to design the perfect individually-tailored program. The final reveal will be especially dramatic because the contestants will not be permitted to see themselves in a mirror during the three-month transformation process.

...

Contestants were chosen through a nationwide search and from thousands of videotaped submissions by women seeking a second chance in life.

Man... I love Fox... think this will take some of the heat off of Genic Engineering for awhile?

I kinda see this going bad... your thoughts?

And somehow, Janet Jackson showing her boobie on TV is indecent compared to something like this?...

THIS SICKENS ME!!!

beauty isnt everything... and even if it was... i think plastic/cosmetic surgery does not add to anyones appeal (maybe a little touch up here and there is ok but a whole surgery is wrong)... girls with surgery look fake and plastic and the health risks of these surgeries makes it worse!!!

It sickens me they prey on the insecure TV audience ad promote this crap!

I saw previews for this. Exploiting stupid people on tv...yeesh. :shk:

And, whats worse, people will actually take time to watch this garbage.

Well, whatever floats your silicone boat.

You know what they should do? They should make a "When Plastic Surgery Goes Awry" show.

The whole show would be the screw-ups. An entire hour, every Friday night dedicated to showing the hideous freak mishaps. And show it during prime time so kids will get to watch it too...

Something of that sort would make people more hesitant to alter themselves with plastic surgery.

Yeah I saw the previews for this, I really think its ridiculous. What kind of message does this send to self conscious young girls? You need plastic surgery to be beautiful? This is crap, complete and utter crap. This kind of stuff doesn't need to be on prime time TV, glamorizing plastic surgery and all that. Its a damn shame that our world has come to such lows as this.

And remember. A single boobie is still considered indecent enough to help spurn tougher FCC regulations.

America is about as b'ass ackwars as you can get. Nothing makes sense in this country...

Ya know... it sounds cruel, but I think it's quite hilarious. I was kinda ticked when I saw the commercial, but after I thought about it, it actually was quite funny. I laugh at my friends when they do stupid things... well, these women are doing stupid things, and I'm laughing about it. The only problem I have is that it is like a cosmetic pageant and being commercialized. Now I'm ticked off again... dammit. I wish stupdity wasn't so easily commercializable (is that even a word? lol...).

Leave it to FOX to come up with the dumbest and stupidest TV show ideas on the planet.

Sad thing is it will probably bring in good ratings.

I swear people who watch these type of shows should be shot out of a cannon into a brick wall!

I like laughing at people too. But I don't like the way our youth today are, and this is only going to hurt the problem.

Hey Earthscum, what happened to retiring? You miss the board too much?

Its sad that teenage girls see 5'10'' 95 lbs models on the page of every trite teenage magazine, and now this.

Vast majority of people follow what the media says "beauty" is. Its unavoidable.

once i saw this extreme makeover show on tv, i stoped watching it. i havent really watched tv in quite a while. it just amazes me that people can sit through these horrible mind numbing shows. if people didnt have to work i seriously doubt that anybody would have anything that resembles a life outside of survivor or american idol.

About retirement, yeah... my brain hurt really bad and I took like a day break, lol... needed stuff to occupy my thoughts again.

I wonder if tis idea was taken from the Howard Stern Show? I've seen at least a couple where he payed for some lady's plastic surgery.

The people on those shows are only gonna get a temporary respite. Their gonna get their makeover, then their gonna forget to exercise, and 6 months later, bam, back to what they were like before. If they need surgery to gain self confidence, they need to see a psychiatrist.

A sex change both ways(2 different people) would freakishly gnarly.

Exactly, this is a new low, just when you think they couldn't get any lower they come along and surprise you.

Have millions of people being blown to bits on TV, parade pictures of Saddams dead sons with pride and show these idiots being cut up, but for God's Sake don't show someone's titty!!! Think of what could happen??? Our sons might masturbate. ARGH!!!!!

Actually, alot of cosmetic surgeons do request psychiatric evaluations before surgery. Some even have in-house psychiatrists just for this purpose. These are the honest ones, who do a majority of their work on people that were mangled by their dog when they were kids, etc. The guy that sewed up my head after I flew through the windshield was a cosmetic surgeon, and was called in just because of my injury. I hardly have a scar now, even though my forehead was peeled to about 2 inches from the top of my skull.

I still don't think this should be made into a 'game' though, but oh well... better than watching 'The Real World'.
