Something strange the President of Georgia is saying that only two Russian jets have been shot down?

[edit on 8-8-2008 by RenegadePsycho]

BBC News 24 have stuck with the 2 planes all afternoon so a few news outlets might have jumped the gun on some reports coming in.

US and Georgia have spoken, but there has been no call for help.

And if anyone cares: John McCain urges Russia to cease military operations.

Escalating into a 'full-scale disaster'

Yes, I've just seen that on BBC World. Pretty amazing. He was saying that this has now gone beyond the two states; that it is now about the wider democratic world - especially the United States. He's saying the world needs to wake up and act now.

Russian tanks have rolled into Georgian territory as fears grow that all-out war will erupt over the breakaway province of South Ossetia.

AFP: A Belgian minister has said UN Security Council meetings to resume over this matter.

EDIT: The US will send an envoy to the region.

Casualties in the S. Ossetian capital could be over 1000 according to their President, but I'm sure the Russians and the Georgians have their own figures as well.

ROFL

`anti-us lobby`

since you both have been here less than 5 minutes let me educate you - 1) i am a libertarian 2) i totally loathe and hate the surrent administration with a deep felt passion you cannot begin to comprehend and 3) how dare you even begin to insuinuate i am anit-US (see the previous points) the majority of the people do not understand how far bush has dragged them down , and how little the rest of the planet cares for bush; like the current brow beating in israel , in the event of a conflict it would be the people who suffer not the zealots in charge who need to be dragged out and hung.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but Debka is reporting that Israel has its hand in the pot also...

"Georgian tanks and infantry, aided by Israeli military advisers, captured the capital of breakaway South Ossetia, Tskhinvali, early Friday, Aug. 8, bringing the Georgian-Russian conflict over the province to a military climax."

I don't think NATO has any claim to get involved in this one. I'm hoping someone can clarify this for me one way or t'other.
