Russia has been buying up natural resources, so it can dictate foreign policy's. I am with you on this, in that, it is understandable what Russia is
doing. How long it will play out with the Americans is questionable.

It was a browser window issue. Please excuse the off topic post. I got worried for a moment, what with the lack of news. Mods feel free to delete this
and my one related previous post on preceeding page.

Seems that so called "State Sponsered Cyber Terrorism" is the new catch cry in this conflict.
This is being reported here in Australia - but not 100% sure of its valicity.

Saakashvili told SKY that Georgia will never surrender to Russia; I can see things escalating greatly because Russia are surely going to step
it up.
Who knows what the next few hours might bring.

Has anyone noticed that for the last 24 hours we have got no solid news. No breaking news and no confirmations also. Its looks like there is a halt in
incoming news all of a sudden. Before we used to have like a breaking news every 15 mins. Why this lull of all a sudden?

It's not just understandable... it's down right impressive... Smart fellow Putin,Russians always play good chess...
We have had this paranoid thing here in the states where people have been saying that the colapse of the Soviet Union was a ruse... to come back and
bite us and treating them as such.
and I really don't think so... I think the Russians were, silently impressed with us and wanted in, I think played right Russia could have become a
member of Nato...
and our boys like being...the only Pin in the whole Nato bowling alley too much in the end...
Not going to go further on my thoughts... But Russia was...serious about being part of Europe, even Nato... Our own mistrust I think made them become
exactly what we feared they would.
Now they are...of course going back to guys like Chaves and Ahmedinenjad, Castro... all these porletariot fools that wear workmans clothes and scream
like Krushev back in the day lol...
waiting for Chavez to show up and bang his shoe on the table in defense of russia...
What a waste of a great opportunity...

No the news crews on the ground use direct satellite uplink and are less/not dependent on Georgian communication infrastructure.

I've noticed this too. Probably also because the situation isn't at all too safe for the media.
I don't what the hell this was all about, I think it was one of Georgia's own helicopters.

Putin and Bush look angry at each other... at least Cheney isn't there to make things even worse.
Soldiers estimated Russia's military had about 30,000 men on Georgian territory, although there was no official confirmation.
Which is MUCH higher than what Russia reported... They reported 13.000.
While this goes on:
Iran nuclear work will go on: Ahmadinejad
Interesting article with all the hardware Georgia
and South Ossetia have.
About the georgian president:
And following Russia's attack against Georgia last week, pro-American, Harvard-trained Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said
Moscow would not have dared lunge into South Ossetia, and bomb Georgian targets, if his country had been a member of NATO.
About the Iran war: Here A blockade is a good idea for the
neo-cons since most people are not informed and will see any Iran counter attack as a first strike... which is not because a blockade IS a declaration
of war.
And another crisis on the horizon: Taiwan will buy more
arms from the US

You see, this is what's worrying me about Russia's true intentions.
Earlier on, Medvedev said there was absolutely no possibility of a Russian advancement in Georgian territory. This was followed by a short period of
relative quiet, and the next thing you know, Russia were advancing on Senaki, Gori and Abkhazia.
A few hours ago, Medvedev said there were 'no plans' to advance into Tbilisi, too.
Mm.

lol, yeah. That last video didn't make a lick of sense.
Notice the guys huddled together yelling at the cameraman? What were they yelling?
If it was a chopper, probably something to the effect of
"Get away from me with that thing, you look like you're carrying a missile launcher, the chopper will target us for sure!"
