Were you impressed by the sight of it, when you first saw it?

Well, actually, not really. At first I thought it was my imagination, when I established that it wasn't, it was just pretty strange. The snake wasn't as clear as in the picture that was posted here. Also, at some point I fell asleep, so I guess it wasn't that impressive at that moment.

I just randomly told my friends during the next day and didn't think about it again, at all, until I saw the title of this thread. I wasn't even looking for info on this phenomenon.

I didn't take any pictures, I think you got me mixed up with another poster. Also the pictures I was reffering to, is actually only one picture, the one with the "snake" like line of light.

edit: I'm reffering to the first picture "crawgator406" posted.

The picture might be the result of a shaky hand, but all I know is that it looks like the thing I saw, and that wasn't the result of "shaky eyeball".

Just to keep things from getting confused:
THIS shot was taken by "The_Glen"
and posted on 8/7/2008 @ 09:11 PM.
He started this thread. I merely enhanced his photos.

And THESE shots were posted by "Crawgator406"
on 8/8/2008 @ 02:13 AM. These were also enhanced by me.

You can go back through the pages to see the "original unenhanced photos".

Yes dust ...

What a waste..
You need a pro camera on tripod with a looong exposure just to see a 1 pixel white dot or a line. Stars are not easy to photograph.

And the other pic by the other poster is not a "sky snake" .......
Its a point light taken with a shaky hand. Go and shoot any pic of a point light and compare.
Well but I dont know what that light is...

The pics that you are refering to are the ones i took last night. the camera was on a tripod on my rear deck of my house also keep in mind that it was hard fog we had last night in the bottom corner of the pic is a bush thats in my back yard next to a security lamp. i have a 7.1 pixal nikon L16 with a 10 ft finger triger to snap the shot. so the camera could not be touched or moved. so what look's like a shacky hand is not. hope this answers any questions

the blur that you see is all the fog we had here at my house. i live right on a river. the object in the second pic would get dimmer then it would get really bright. it would get closer than farther. when i thought it got closer i snapped the 1st pic than i snapped again for the 2nd pic. so if you notice the bush in the pic it never moves out of frame. the whole point of the pics was to show The_Glen what had saw last night, when i let my dogs out.

Can you please read the whole thread before you post I said it looked interesting from the camera screen, but now that Rek brightened them up this was clearly what I was trying to take a picture of, even if it's dust or not.

No! One of the posters said that he had seen three points of light travelling across the sky. They could be the NOSS satellites...

No! One of the posters said that he had seen three points of light travelling across the sky. They could be the NOSS satellites...

"The 3rd generation NOSS are the first to employ only two satellites. They made their debut in September 2001, followed by launches in December 2003, February 2005, and June 2007. "

So....the latest NOSS's have 2 satelites very close next to each other. You need 3 points to make a triangle.

Don't know much about the recent satellites but the original NOSS (Naval Ocean Surveillance System) where in three's. They orbit the Earth at a height of 1100km and form a triangle roughly 100km across. As far as I know they are still in existence and may account for this sighting...
