if elected, will obama survive his presidency?

the thread about the man with fake press credentials who got close to obama as well as the thread about the would-be assassin has brought to the forefront of my mind something i've been thinking about off and on for months now.

if he is elected president, what are the odds obama makes it all the way through his term?

some assassinations, like the attempt on reagan's life, are true surprises while others, like jfk and rfk and mlk people should have been able to see coming ten miles away.

i think obama stands the best chance of being assassinated of any president in the past 40 years.

I would be more concerned about a mutinous insurrection than anything else.

Whether it's an attempt or success only a blithering idiot that really hates this land would attempt such a thing. Be warned. Beware. The outcome will be very bad.

Seem we have a number of threads started on this subject today (4?). Almost like there's a band of folks here in favor the idea but won't come out and admit it straight up.

i am certainly not in favor of such a thing.

i simply have concerns. there are so many red flags about obama and his campaign already that an intelligent and informed person has to at least consider the question.

My thoughts lately have been that he may be assassinated before the actual election. It may be more likely, as the time draws closer, if he is ahead in the polls. Does anyone know what the procedure for finding a new Democratic candidate would be if this were to happen?

I assume that the question of the poster is asking if assassination attempts will be made because of his race, rather than other reasons.

I suppose there are people/groups on the fringes of society who contemplate assassinating virtually every president for varying reasons and ideologies.

If these people succeed in an assassination attempt it would be a very sad day for the U.S. I would hope that no one would attempt to kill a duly elected President, but as history has proven there are those who seek to hijack history and force a change of administration. Hopefully if attempts are made they will be unsuccessful, but I am sure there are people out there crazy enough to contemplate such an event.

Is it likely? Yeah, I suppose it is, but then again I hope I am proven wrong. I don't know if it's "more likely" though, probably only the FBI and Secret Service who are aware of the normal number of threats on any given President could answer that question.

Let's just pray that no one suceeds. Taking out Obama would incite a race war across America that would make the Rodney King riots look like a tea party.

I am not an Obama supporter, but I would hate to see the guy get knocked off. Once he is president, I will do what I can to support him.

Imagine if he gets assassinated before the election and the Liberals say that the Republicans are behind it and it starts a civil war.

Thats where *Apaulin has taken this campaign. Shes splitting America. Acting more like an angry divorcee then a leader. It will be another sad day in America if MCCain wins just on that point. At least Obama has a qualified replacement.


The case can also be made about MCCain. Hes no spring chicken. As far as I know he hasnt released his medical records to inform America how bad his cancer really is.

Uh yeah, McCain released his medical records a long time ago (www.boston.com...).

It's Obama who hasn't released his medical records. All he's given is a single page from a doctor saying he's fit.

I don't think any of us truly want to see the man killed. He has children for crying out loud that woulod be left without a daddy!

But what I DO fear is that Al Qaida knows that this country would be in shambles following an Obama victory and assasination. I fear them trying to incite violence in America more than I do some redneck hick from the KKK doing any harm to Obama.

Every President becomes a target, none more than others. Anybody who would actually want to be President must be crazy. You can get much more done for people as an ordinary politician. You gotta have a screw loose to want to be President.

He's not going to get killed for economics, rather pissing about with images.

I cant help but think someone is going to try to take him out. Maybe its the way they keep comparing him to JFK. Can you imagine the chaos this will create? There are some really mentally ill people out there or some whacked out redneck who thinks it will make him a hero. Guess you would say that would be a mental illness too. Ok never mind..lol
