Actually it has been proved to many of us. To everyone else it would seem as you say. We know it for a fact but we can not transfer that knowledge to you.

It's not proof unless you can independently verify it. Just because you believe you have felt something or believe you have seen something does constitute proof any more than the guy doing LSD says he's seen a tyrannosaurus rex eating marshmallows at Dairy Queen. Just because he saw it does not make it true.

there are no Atheists .

Since it is impossible for a genuine Atheist to even exist, it starts to make me ponder if you exist at all? It is entirely possible that you are a fictional person invented by someone who does believe in God to test others faith. Since there is no realistic way you will ever be able to prove to me you exist or that you are an Atheist, why am I responding to this thread?

According to Webster's... Atheist means "The disbelief or denial of the existence of a God, or supreme intelligent Being. " All you have to do is believe that a god doesn't exist. And... guess what... you are an "atheist". Just because no one can prove a god doesn't exist does not mean that atheists don't exist.

As Alex said when the thread was started... you can't prove a god (any god... of any shape, size or texture) exists so stop trying. And just so you know... my definition of "God" is a concious entity that willfully created the universe.

And as a dictionary approved atheist... I do not believe a god exists. And... I will go so far as to say that my belief is so strong that I actively deny that a god exists (which further fits the dictionary's definition of atheist).

thank you, thank you

I'm definitely glad I showed up to see that today

I've read some on this - but haven't seen it put into a visual like that one

physics I think is where it's at - the Where's Waldo of our existence

We are at an impasse then. I ask one more time, why this discussion then?

I don't see this as being so much about what you can sense - or know

this is about what you can prove

which I realize is a kind of shaky place to be - which is also the only reason it's interesting

and - it makes me want to trot out something tired I always use to show what I'm getting at

radiation being one of the many, many things we now know about - and mostly understand - there are so many others

but it's the concept - it was always there - who knew?

and you could argue - yes it was unknown - but - it's real - it's provable

it is provable - once you know it's there - but you have to have reason to suspect it's there first

faith is just a word

it can mean believing in something you can't actually prove - a kind of assumption

science makes assumptions all the time - I see no reason why regular folk can't do the same

but, since god can neither be proven or dis proven - according to the rules of the game - which are determined by science

by those same rules - science can't prove god doesn't exist - so, if it says it doesn't - it has simply made an assumption

it just sounds like a silly, silly argument

and it probably is - but - I think we're supposed to have it

I forgot to ask - the pink unicorn didn't really ask you to kill the monkey, did it?

people say they make things up all the time

I'm a great paraphraser so please don't expect exact quotes from me where the Bible is concerned. I once immersed myself in Bible study until I realized it had served its purpose and no amount of study had any more bearing on my Faith. A walk through the woods is more enlightening than endless days spent with my nose buried in text.

There is a scripture to the effect - Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. In studying the meanings of words before translation, I found that it actually stated something more like - Blessed are they who are so low they have no place to turn except to God. Only at that point is a person open to ask for that which they will receive.

There is another passage that states - It is easier for a Camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. It in fact refers to a type of doorway that made it impossible for a Camel to pass without crawling through on their knees. It was a security feature to defend gated cities.

There are many types of wealth with one being that of possessing much knowledge. Science is a type of wealth and is in itself a religion or belief which requires faith in unproved theories. Most of science owes its foundation to faith just as does a belief in God. For a person of science it is even more difficult to crawl through the eye of a needle and requires that they be at an even lower point in their life before they can be open to accepting God.
