i guess your right. i was not born with a gun in my hand so maybe i dont know why its not such a bad thing to disarm. or maybe its just that the fear factor you have also been born with blinds you from what seems perfectly clear to the rest of the world. i'm also guessing that the daily murders which occur in the states are mostly by knives, hatchets???

well good luck with whomever wins your election guys because they have a tough crowd

A fair amount of the murders committed in the United States each year are not committed by criminals with firearms. The majority are, but in any given year, 30-40% are not.

But it seems to me that you're the one with a 'fear factor'. You're afraid of an inanimate object in the hands of law abiding citizens. The overwhelming majority of the 220 million firearms in the hands of private US citizens will never be used in the commission of a crime.

Sound logic once again from the anti gun crowd. When you cant hold your own in an arguement, take everything to the extreme. Oh, wait, I said that? I must be a racist and a bigot as well. I believe that is the next mantra to "winning" according to anti-gunners.

Where does the federal government get the power to own nukes? We the people cannot delegate a power we do not already have.

Lets get real here: Facts destroy any argument for gun control.

Supporters of gun control are nothing more than weak minds who tend to think with emotion rather than logic.

What does it matter WHAT is used to commit a murder? The point is murders still happen. I am guessing that you are from the UK or Australia? How are those gun bans working out for England? Not very good, now everyone is just killed with knives and swords, and now it is a crime just to be carrying a steak knife home from the store. And on top of that, more and more people are being killed by guns in robberies, because the robbers know that 99.9% of the time, their victim has no way to fight back.

I read about packs of youths stabbing people to death over there. It sure as hell sounds a lot more barbaric and animal like than the United States.

And its not just average joes getting in gunfights and murders all the time. A good portion of our crime is due to one thing, drugs, and the attempted control of them. The "war on drugs" does far more harm to this country than the drugs themselves ever could.

Anyway, for those of you complaining about the US culture, no one asked you to comment on it, I personally could not care less. Just because you enjoy living in a society where the government says jump and you say how high doesn't mean I have any desire to.

I know that another argument is that people say "whats the point, you can't defeat the government, they have way better weapons". Tell that to the Afghans in the 80's and today, also tell that to all the insurgents in Iraq, tell that to the Somali's tell that to the north vietnamese. The point is, big war machines tend to grind to a hault when met with a resistance force, especially when it is a non tradition "gorilla" fighting force. Oh yeah, and also tell it to the members of the Revolutionary War who refused to stand in a line to fight, and sent the stupid red coats back to where they came from.

Yes he does support the subversion of the second amendment.

Read the link on page one and then at the bottom you can see how everyone shapes up.

Not much to choose from regardless of the issues.

I take it you don't understand the power a President now has. He can enact by decree based on anti terror assessment.

Perhaps you should get out of high school before handing out the put downs?

Folks better get up to speed on the power the president now has. He does not need anything from the house or senate to enact his wishes.

It seems we heard all this same garbage when they said oh there will never be an assault weapons ban. You just wait and see what they tack on the end of it this time.....

They said that about the assault weapons ban, too. We saw how that worked out in the 90s. And speaking of the AWB, the Dems have been trying yet again.

HR 1022

I see that they've now included the Mini-14, a rifle in production for 35 years and widely used as a hunting rifle across the US. I'm sure it won't be the last one on their list.

There are 66 co-sponsors...all Democrats. They've had a similar bill going in the Senate in the past. At this point, they've been unsuccessful at getting it to a floor vote, but if the balance of power shifts a little more in their favor this fall, they may have enough votes to push it through. Could the Supreme Court find it unconstitutional? Certainly. On the other hand, they could uphold it, especially if/when a few justices retire and new ones are added. And even if they do overturn it, considering that the DC gun ban stood for 30 years before it was declared unconstitutional, I wouldn't count on the USSC to save the 2nd Amendment anytime soon.

Yes, being subjects of the crown never did sit well with me. I sure am glad I am an American and not completely under the thumb of a house of lords thats usualy asleep or drunk. Although it does kinda sound like our Senate. Theres suposedly some guy that goes to the Senate and has for many years and has Video of certain Senators that can hardly talk let alone be trusted to vote coherently. I hope its released soon. Probably mostly of Kennedy!
