I'm not from Skye but descended from such and the story in the family group - given to producing witchy finish-your-sentences-for-you know-it-all-beforehand how-did-he-do-that types - is that we got that clever stuff from Skye, where, the family said, such is thick on the ground...
I am very interested to see if you can get good replies on your topic, yes yes, good luck.

Hey craic.n.up (loving the name ... you could say it 'craiced.m.e.up') er-hum ... sorry about that.

Yes t'is true, the Celt's and the faeries always go hand in hand.

Thanks for the reply and also for the link, I shall take a look at that later (3:40am as I type this, so I should maybe grab a couple of hours sleep before it all begins again).

Hi Wytchy,
I found some Isle of Skye Shapeshifter references for you, but nothing in depth I'm afraid! (sorry!)

Isle of Skye Shapeshifter:

From: mysterious britain

Baisd Bheulach (mis-spelt?)
A shapeshifting demon who haunted the Odail Pass on the Isle of Skye, its howls could be heard in the night.

From: answers

Biasd Bheulach
[Scottish Gaelic, prating beast]
A demon spirit or demonic ghost of the Isle of Skye, usually in the area of the Odail Pass. Sometimes it bore the form of a man, sometimes of a man with only one leg; at other times it appeared to be a greyhound or beast prowling about. It emitted frightful shrieks, and seemed to be hunting for blood.

From: ce ltic encyclopaedia

BIASD BHEULACH
(beeast veealuch) The monster of Odail Pass on the Isle of Skye, and one of the Highland demon spirits. The distinction between demon spirits and demonic ghosts is hard to draw, and people might well have accounted for Biasd Bheulach as the ravening ghost of a murdered man, hungry for revenge.

From: peregrine-net

BIASD BHEULACH (Isle of Skye, Odail Pass): A revening ghost of a murdered man, hungry for revenge which haunts the highlands; it appears at night as a greyhound or other beast, or occasionally takes the form of a man with one leg. It is only appeased by the taking of blood via vicious bites.

I've also seen it called "Biast Bheulach" and "Odail Pass Monster".

I hope this is of some interest to you!

G

Hey Gordi, that information is fantastic. I have friends who live on the Isle of Skye and this will be one to go check-out with them, the next time I go for a visit.

Thank you so much.
