Books,

Goodness... I just been to the store and I was looking at what books they had as I fancy a light read tomorrow with a bottle of wine!

But gosh im not sure if others have noticed but it was filled with many many books of Poor children, titles like "Dance for daddy" the *imprisoned child* ect ect there must have been about 30 books about children who have been abused, or left to die or taken as a child,

I just felt a little disturbed that there is so many books about these poor children, I felt the urge to cry just looking at the book covers.. Not sure I could even pick one up to read,

I know people want to read a book and cry and I guess it may just be awareness but goodness im not sure at all how I felt about it,

Is it just me? Am I just too sensitive about it, has anyone else noticed the book shelves in there local Stores?

Ooohh, very deep.
Is it possible that the nwo or who ever is setting people up for the next level down in desensitization?
I suppose that when people see this kind of information saturating their subconscious, if they have a propensity to do this kind of crime, it could cause them to act out what they could normally keep in control.
In the future, children will be treated as the little Buddhas that they are and this kind of mental vomit will not be taking up space as the propaganda that it is.
I feel the same about the bombardment of tv and radio commercials about mental illness, depression, you name it, regardless of the side effects, it has the same ability to take weaker minded people and leave them nodding their heads 'wondering' if they should talk to their doctor.
And the Viagra type commercials! Again subliminally creating a sterile erectile dysfunction future, plunking the seed of the thought in young boys and men's subconscious, DANGEROUS, the conscious mind hold only 30% of the functioning mind, the rest is like dark matter, and is the subconscious.
I would complain to the owners of the bookstore and to stop shopping there until they change their direction.
asala, that you see it is a good sign, it shows that you are deciding exactly what you choose to accept into your unconscious and that is called awareness. Good.

Thing is this is not even a book store its Asdas what you in the US call Wallmart! Its almost like you are being pushed to see all this stuff daily,

Theres also many many crime books there now, Good prison guides? Every murder you can name has a book out,

So much for a light read!

I think this is more a case of the children of ten, twenty, thirty etc years ago are getting round to telling their tales (fiction or not).

Things go in "waves", if one sells, lots sell.

Blame the publishers!

I guess people these days can relate better to problems and bad news than they can to solutions and good news.

Shame.

Pick a good book with some "cheer" in it......happy reading.

In my case yesterday I was hoping to find some Science Fiction in the book area of a Walmart. No such luck. They had a shelf that was even labeled Science Fiction and can you guess what was filling it? Romances. Lots and lots of Romances. Even the shelf labeled "Westerns". Nothing that I was interested in. The main problem in this small town (I can hardly wait to move) is that there is only one used bookstore and that one has very ... shall we say... irregular hours? It's open when the owner feels like it and they have virtually nothing that I'm interested in. Lots of Religious books to be sure but almost nothing in the SF field. If I had the finances I'd open my own.

Ohhh Asala, I got a book for you, actually two, one of my favorite writers is Tom Robbins. For you I reccomend Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. My personal favorite of his is Still Life with Woodpecker.

Light reading, fun, and if you read Still Life with Woodpecker, you will know exactly why it's one of my favorite all time books.

Urgh. I discovered long ago to avoid Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco or Morrisons for books.
They only stock crap (what you in the US call 'crap').

If you need a book I'd suggest Waterstones. You can find nearly any book you'd want in the stores, and if its not there check the website. Plus if you get a card you earn points when you spend and they give you discount towards later purchases.

And the website is dirt cheap too. I wanted to buy the latest Star Wars Legacy of the Force book, which I discovered has hitherto only been published in hardback and cost 18.99. The website only price was 11.99 and with my points it worked out at about 7.95.

Love Waterstones, despise Supermarkets.

Books are victims of 'fashion' just like all the other fads; but I have noticed a general lowering of the bar in quality and standards per see. Nothing beats the classics IMHO.

When I go into a book store, I generally already know what I'm after. I do little browsing... (I hit & run)... must be a guy thing

However, having said all that, I will say that you cannot go past Irvine Welsh for a good laff & a 101 class in political incorrectness! Any of his books are well recommended to be digested with wine or the party favor of choice.

For the romantics, may I suggest an oldie from A.S Byatt called "Possession". A truly awesome story. Probably one of my all time faves!

Happy Reading,

IRM
