You be the judge, and as too good to be true as it may seem, this scam is true, btw.

This was placed in a "Help Wanted" ads section in a variety of local newspapers in Miami, Florida:

"Wanted: Chauffer for Topless Dancers
This job would require those selected persons/individuals to be drivers, for 'escorts' and topless dancers, who would need chauffering or ferrying from and to their jobs within Miami, Florida. The position will pay: $5,000 per week in cash plus 'benefits'.

If interested, please send or wire an $865 deposit, which WILL be refunded after completing your first assignment."

www.thisistrue.com...

According to investigators, no one who applied ever recieved a "first assignment". Those 'knuckleheads/idiots' that did send their deposits, which were 43, in all, ranging from 19-78 in age, were hit-up again and again for "hidden job-related expenses". One of those 'knuckleheads/idiots' sent in a total of $8,000 (this obviously included those hidden fees). Astoundingly, all 43 sent in, on average, 8 payments a piece.

This "scam" was the brain-child/creation of a 34 year old male and a 22 year old female. They have been charged with 333 counts of Felony Fraud, according to the Miami Herald.

"Stripper rip-off gets couple 333 charges"
www.miami.com...

Interestingly....they should have been charged with 344 counts: 43 x 8.......

So....whats your verdict?
Idiot of the Year Award?
Scam of the Year Award?

Thoughts?

I was thinking how this was conspiracy related to be honest.

If they were idiotic to send in that money though I hope they are laughed at for the rest of their lives.

Its a conspiracy, of sorts, John Nada, because scam's don't exist, as self admitted, hushed over or because those that are caught in scam's do not openly admit that they were fooled into such things?

Well let's see,

It has to be Idiot Of the Year, only because they were caught
I think it was great and I am sure Hollywood could probably make a great comedy out of it. If that occured we could move over to Scam of the Year

Well I'm sure that case could be made for quite a few things over at BTS. However, far be it from me to question a moderator on where certain topics should go.

PLease feel free to u2u a mod to place this within its proper forum John, being you have indicated doubt that last two comments. I have NO problem with this thread being moved.....gee, in fact....I will ask a mod who can move it to move it.

Don't throw a hissy fit and throw your toys out of the pram just because I questioned whether this thread was in the wrong thread or not.

Seriously though, there has been a huge crack down on this sort of thing lately (as well as quoting huge posts with only a line or two in reply to which I was fined lately, and which you have also just done) so I was just pointing this out to you really. Trying to help in anyway I can Seekerof.

Regards.

I think the 43 peeps should each be given a bat and locked on a gymnasium with the two scammers, and then it would be a definite Darwin Award!

Darwin award indeed one mod and one wanna be mod. Go debate about something.

It hasn't got as much to do with wanting to be a mod but more to do with the fact that I've had a word in my ear about the placing of threads, and an actual fine for quoting an entire thread with only one or two sentences for a reply.

When I see a moderator do the exact same things, I have to ask what the hell is going on. It's not exactly setting a good example is it?

It's nothing personal against Seekerof, I just feel it is in all of our best interests if these things are pointed out to other members, even if they are mods. It'll help us along as a community don't you think?
