This is 100% true. Politicians are very much like the mafia, they will steal at gun point (try not paying your taxes), extort (look up campaign contributions through the threats of passing "Milker Bills" through congress) lie (look up the WMDs run up, or congress's now unwillingness to get to the bottom of who's responsible) Kill (see # of people killed in Bush's war) enslave (wiliness to conscript you or I to go protect so-called interests of the few)

In fact the Gambinos and the Luccheses er I mean the Democrats and Republicans like their counter part organization only bicker about the small stuff like who will lead this year's "sitdown" or what policy to enforce for the Five Burrows...er I mean the U.S, but they agree in just about everything else.

Yeah I've been here around the same time and I don't enjoy politics at all but from what I hear McCain when asked directly about the border he changes the subject, he is basically a liar, probably does want more wars and with more wars automatically comes more taxes, but I can say bad things about Obama as well, Obama wants to cut as much space program funding as possible for more 'earthly' political programs, which I consider to be a very short sighted concept, one thing that seperates the U.S. from other countries is our space program, Bush has made many mistakes but his plans on returning to the moon are actually good and Obama wants to cancel them. If we never return to the moon we will never reach mars. The evolution of technology for the human race will rely on reaching other planets and building bases, giving humans a better chance against extinction, and perhaps Obama wants to cancel those programs simply because he's not a fan of NASA or because Bush proposed them, people compare Obama to JFK, but JFK said lets go to the moon. Overall I don't know which is worse but they both seem to be bad candidates. One war hungry and one anti war and anti space, the best candidate would probably be somewhere in-between Obama and McCain but with that dream candidate non existant. I was a fan of Obama but now it will be hard to choose I just love the space program too much.

A couple important things to note...

I am also active duty Air Force, and the recent 3.7% pay raise for the military was pushed through and approved... by Congress. Not the president. In fact, the raise came 2 months late because the president was opposing it. The President still fights against military pay raises...

Why would Senator McCain (who's policies are almost identical to GWB) be any different? Most of the benefits we enjoy today is because of congressmen that fight for them. Not the President.

Regarding Obama and the space program- I agree that we need to continue and improve on exploration and understanding the cosmos. I would love nothing more than read about the mysteries of space and our exploration of it. However, I can't see the justification in spending billions of dollars when there is still so much strife in the world right now. As Obama said when clarifying his space policy: (not an exact quote) We need to re-focus the money that was going to be used for the Constellation program towards education. blog.wired.com...

Pumping billions into a space program that doesn't have enough scientists, engineers, and specialists is useless. Just something to think about. I know you love the space program, but right NOW, should that be one of our big priorities?

the only real differences I see between Bush and McCain are:

• McCain is a war hero
  
• Mccain is a little less totalitarian than Bush
  
• McCain is older
  

I don't particularly like the McCain's platform, but I see him as the only viable choice this election year.. I at least know who he is, and what he really stands for.

IMO McCain isnt so blinded by ideology as Bush and co . McCain woke up to the Rumsfeld disaster long before Bush and the rest of his cronies did . McCain also understands that you have to sometimes work with political rivals in order to get things done . When you have a free hand it pays to make sure that your words and actions are wise because when you can no longer pass bills freely a president will need to work with Congress.

McCain is a Right-leaning Conservative with more Populist views than Bush.
Bush is a Hard-Core Conservative with many of his views stemming from his Ultra-Conservative Christian Beliefs.

Bush and McCain have very similar views on the following issues: Abortion, Education, Immigration, Trade, the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, Social Security and Welfare.

The issues they are further apart ideologically on are: Federal Spending, Energy Policies, Torture/Interrogation Tactics, and Arms/Nuclear Programs/Disarmament Policies.

So, the answer is Bush and McCain have both similarities and differences depending on the issues.

How is he not a straight shooter so far? When he was campaigning in Michigan he told auto workers that the jobs in Detroit were not coming back, and the Michigan primary went to Huckabee. Many see his comments to them as the reason why. he told them the truth, which was exactly what they didn't want to hear.
