This is very strange. I was reading topics in skunk works but not actually logged in with my account (specifcally this thread). On the right hand side pane, there is an Advertisement specifically regarding "Get Bob Marley tunes for your ringtones, click here".

Is this a planted topic to get people to click on that add? Or is google that good?

Go try it out. Log out of your account, then pull up this thread anonymously, you will see the Bob Marley Add. I tried to twice to see if I was crazy.

Anyway, Yes. Marley was awesome in his time, and he is still adored even when his mortal life has been gone for many years.

No it's not weird advertisements are being chosen due to keywords in the thread I believe all over. For example I'm a member of a boxing website and when people made threads on oscar de la hoya there would be an advertisement about Oscar De la Hoya's new book on the same page and I've seen similar things all over it's nothing new so calm down.

I would think prophets should know and be able to play more than two chords.

Marley didn't kill himself with self destructive behavior, he was offed by the CIA because he posed a serious threat to the political status quo in Jamaica. Cancer was the weapon.

No, Bob Marley didn't kill himself with destructive behavior, you are right. I don't believe he was a prophet, although he was wonderfully insightful, and a true spirit of the believe of love as a healing balm for the people. Gone too soon, too soon.

Bob Marley was not "offed" by a CIA-induced cancer, that's absurd. He died of cancer, plain and simple, in a Miami hospital in 1981. Raas Claat.

I agree that Marley was not a prophet in the spiritual sense, and I agree with you that he was insightful and is much missed. If you choose to ignore the strange circumstances of his death, that's your prerogative.

No, I totally agree there were strange circumstances...... I mean cancer that was said by some to be as a result of a toe injury? I think it's pretty clear that he died of cancer; just a huge leap from there to CIA-induced cancer.... I mean, how can cancer be induced in anyone? I'm always willing to learn and change my view, even if the evidence is contrary to my beliefs, however that does involve persuasive evidence.

Bob Marley was a great man and musician (it doesn't matter what type of music you like, im into heavy metal, death metal, speed metal, etc, but I still listen to Bob Marley every now and then.. like right now [thread inspired me]), but he wasn't a prophet. Singing about love and weed doesn't make you a prophet.

thats what is written, but is it the truth??? he was a prophet a modern day messenger carrying and giving a huge truths of wisdom, the system didnt like it just like they had a problem with others as in one John Lennon, strange that people tried to knock him off more than once dont you think!!!! I have been to St anns nine wells his birth place and tomb and I tell you who doubt there is amazing energies so very powerful and the song that they sing up there is the truth of what he was about and what he was,

I dig Bob Marley's music a lot, but I don't think he was a prophet. He had a good message in a lot of his stuff-peace, love and understanding. But not all his stuff carried the same message.

I immediately think about his song "Crazy Baldheads" wherin he says "We've got to chase those crazy baldheads out of this town".

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't sound like love.

On another note, he seemed to be pretty big on "roots". Root,Rock, Reggae" and such.
When one looks at the "roots" of the Rasta, back before the Twelve Tribes bit, one of the basic themes was "Stay the hell away from the white man" (paraphrased).

That, to me, is one of the greatest pieces of wisdom anyone ever came up with.
