5.3 earthquake 11:42am in LA California

Story just breaking on local news. I'm 60 miles from LA and jolted the house. Big bang. Locsation Chino Hills 5.8.

Local verison cell service Near Riverside, news says all of riverside county.
It felt like some thing big hit the house. A loud hit, not the rolling like some other quakes. No damage here, Also new report land lines out some places. More ....

yup, just heard it on CNN. said it was had a magnitude of 5.8

On Drudge it says it was felt in VEGAS and Santa Barbara. I am at Vandenberg AFB, about 45min from Santa Barabara and didnt feel anything.

Hope all the LA area people here are OK!

cell service back. 3.8 aftershock. The local news makes big deal of these. People nonstop on news telling there stories. No traffic lights where I live, but I'm sure there blinking red all over.

Yes a 5.8,darn I was driving on the fwy at that time,but one thing my cell phone isn't working now,my kid said it lasted for a long time,scared him and the cats

Unless there is some hidden damage somewhere, or another quake. No damage at all reported on all local LA stations. This story is over...bil

Lets hope it is over and not a pre-cursor to an even bigger event.

the quake was too gentle to cause any non cosmetic damage. surprisingly gentle for a 5.8.

Didn't feel too bad from Van Nuys, although it did seem to last a long time. felt like a bunch of bouncing and a slow rolling after wards. not a violent shaking at all. must have been real deep in the ground.

OK so its never really over a report of a water main broken in East LA. Still doesn't look like much. May not be quake related..
