I think the parents are at fault in all possible scenarios.

If the dog accidentally killed the baby while playing with it, the parents are at fault for leaving their child unattended with a puppy going through teething.

If the dog purposely killed the baby, the parents are at fault for leaving their child unattended with a puppy going through teething.

The parents would have heard the baby's screams while it was being bitten/mauled.

Another scenario is the baby met an unexpected death at the hands of one of the adults, so they let the puppy chew on the baby for a while.

Anyways you look at it, this could have been avoided if the baby was supervised.

When the coroners report comes out I bet that the cops will have a few questions for the adults that were present. It figures that they already killed the puppy. I have been around Labs almost my entire life and the only time they show aggression is to DEFEND the kids around them. This story stinks to high heaven. I hope the truth comes out. A 6 week old puppy has no concept of aggression, grown ups do.

Ben, well thanks for the warning! If I ever get a lab will look for one already grown.

You probably are better off getting one when they are a pup. Easier to train and you can train them how you want. Plus the bond between you and your dog would be much stronger if you got them as a puppy. I think its worth going through the hell they put you through

If it turns out there were no cries heard and it was over very quickly, try to consider how freakish this is. As I said earlier this same scenario has played out millions of times with no harm done. Millions of people have left their baby in an automatic swing while they did something in another room, that's just fact. So it could have happened to millions of parents but didn't by the grace of God then I guess.

Well I'm thankful there are people out there willing to do the pup thing. My favorite dogs have all been hungry neglected adult strays. One in particular, a kind of Benji looking guy, we named Lucky. But I always told him WE were the lucky ones. My family used to joke that if anything ever happened to me they wouldn't fight over who the kids would go to but there would be a big court battle over Lucky. Sorry dont mean to bore anyone but everyone who knew him said he was the smartest dog who ever lived or ever would live again.

Yeah and I just read in the newest report, link up on this page I think, that the cops are the ones who ordered the puppy euthanized. Why? Wouldn't it make sense to observe the animals behavior in the investigation? Yes it stinks and I think it is going to get stranger.

i'm sorry, but to look at these people brings up deep feelings of contempt and resentment. this country and it's diseased majority need to be whipped into shape. if it were up to me labor/reeducation camps. the great unwashed horde would be tasked with undoing the damage their blind-consumption-madness has done to our great country.

but alas, i fear the "Watchers" hav decided to avenge instead of evolve.....

suffer the people, suffer

No cries were heard? That settles it for me, theres a lot more to this story than meets the eye. Someone mentioned in a previous post about the parents being hysterical, but the grandma standing in the backround having a smoke, almost nonchalantly. Its disturbing to think that the baby was killed some other way and given to the dog as a chew toy, but I don't believe the baby was silent throughout the ordeal.

The puppy might have gone for the throat first, but would a 6 week old puppy have the agression and recognize the natural instincts to do so? I have trouble believing it.

Ben I didn't say no cries were heard, I was just saying, we need to wait and see what the story is. And as for that cig smoking grandma, I saw a news video that shows her almost collapsing and crying uncontrollably. I saw this video myself. If I can find the video online I'll post it.
