As far as tickets and other things, I've only had a one-car accident one time and the car was not that damaged. I merely got out of the car and
pushed it back onto four wheels and drove away.
Tickets I've only had two. One in the 1980 in which I was locked in cruise control at 55 (this was back when 55 was the limit). I was passed on a
downhill curve by a bus which came too close. This startled me and I tapped the brakes.
The trooper apparently clocked the bus which passed me at 70 and disappeared over a hill. But when he got there I was the only car around. He gave me
a 62 in a 55. When he caught up to me, my speed had dropped down to 50 (I wasn't paying a lot of attention and was trying to get it back in cruise,
but going uphill the cruise didn't want to catch).
He went flying by me, then slowed down and got behind me. I'm sure he thought he caught a turtle, but being diligent, he made something up to cover
his confusion.
It was actually funny, because he came up scratching his head and said "I, um, it says here I clocked you at 62...you looked like you were um doing
45 when I, um passed you..." I laughed and shrugged. He said 'well try and at least do the speed limit', but he wrote me up for 62, though somewhat
apologetically.
A notorious ticket writing county around here, it was my first ticket.
The other was doing 32 in a 25. about 15 years ago.
