New Mystery Disease in China, is this the next big outbreak?

This is either a new biological weapon, or a complete overreaction. My vote is a little bit of both. They also said it was a bacteria. Bacteria is easily fought off by antibiotics, whereas a viral infection is more difficult to cure.

Get some penicillin, get some nachos, melt cheese, watch TV.... the world will still be here tomorrow.

The articles I've read say that the outbreak is likely Streptococcus suis associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome. But the symptoms described in the OP aren't consistent with TSS and are more consistent (as has been pointed out) with some form of hemorrhagic disease. This could definitely be worrisome in light of the Olympics and the depth and breadth of travelers during that time.

WOW!!!So at the olympics there are going to be what?hundreds of different nations that will catch this disease and spread it all over the world killing 90% of the pop within weeks???

Lol, you frickin' Vegetable, no doubt your silver abuse will be your undoing, I have never had a disease / infection in my life but I put this down to an overactive imagination, if I feel ill I imagine my body fighting the infection and low and behold... it's gone... although upon contracting this disease I don't think it will work.

WWII the Japs had setup Bio lab in China, to find a faster means to kill them. The Chinese have had comtrol of that base since then. have they been playing with the Japs chemistry sets, or have the remniates been breaking loose. It took the goverment over a month to tell it people that benzine had leaked into their water supplyy, and i don't mean a little.

This new disease is made even more worrying as millions of people are going to head to china for the Olympics!
Then if they contract it, they all go back to different parts of the world, it would spread like wildfire!!!

The poorer Chinese live with their animals. It's no surprise really that they're contracting these diseases.

Imagine all the different ways people live in the world: you've got it in China. That is why so many of these things seem to come from there - it's purely because they encompass so much of the worlds population.

Fifty years ago it was quite common in the Midwest for people to live in close proximity to their pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, etc. Why didn't we see this kind of outbreak here in the U.S.? I, myself, lived on a small truck farm, and spent LOTS of time playing with my own chickens, which (BTW) I REFUSED to allow to be killed and eaten for any dinner on OUR table! So, the grandparents had to STOP raising chickens...

There are still rural places scattered across the U.S. where families who depend upon a great deal of their income or Winter survival, live in close proximity to their farm animals, and STILL--we don't hear of this kind of outbreak... at least not yet! Who knows what the spraying of Chemtrails will eventually do to contaminate everything, including US AND our livestock!

True, but what if this does turn out to be deadly and will kill millions. With the olympics coming up, it will easily spread all over the world, The US, teh UK, Australia, France etc Soon the whole world would be infected, because millions of poeple are due to go to China over the next few weeks!!

Take the last big epidemic, about 80 years ago, millions of people died, but there was one difference, the transprot was worse, which means the disease found away, now, with out technology, e.g cars, planes and boats, a disease on that scale would likely do more damage than before!
