Kwame Kilpatrick the embattled Detroit city mayor is under fire yet again for allegedly verbally assaulting two police officers and physically assaulting one.

A stern Detroit judge, saying he has thrown people in jail for less, found that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick violated the terms of his bond in his criminal case after a sheriff's deputy testified he was assaulted by the mayor Thursday.

The ruling followed sheriff’s deputy Brian White's testimony this morning that Kilpatrick shouted expletives at him and his partner when White sought to serve a subpoena on Kilpatrick’s friend, Bobby Ferguson, at the mayor’s sister’s home Thursday. White said the mayor then threw him into his investigative partner, Joann Kinney, and made racially charged remarks during the incident.

Judge Ronald Giles of Detroit's 36th District Court changed Kilpatrick's bond from a personal bond in his criminal perjury case to requiring him to post $7,500 cash with the court to remain free.

The Mayor earlier this year has been under investigation for improper text messages that seem to imply an affair between the Mayor and his Chief of Staff Christine Beatty

The office of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is reeling following publication of a series of e-mails between him and his chief of staff, Christine Beatty. The messages suggest that the pair lied under oath last year in denying they were having an affair. Beatty is resigning. Their testimony last summer was part of a lawsuit by two police officers who claimed they lost their jobs because they investigated whether Kilpatrick used his security officers to cover up extramarital affairs.

At what point should the Mayor step down? Should allegations alone be enough for a person in a position of power to have to resign their post? It is obvious to people of the city of Detroit that Mayor Kilpatrick has been up to no good, even conspiring with long time friend to get city construction contracts.

Also is it not odd that an allegation of physical assault on a LEO by two police officers the mayor is not already in jail over the charges alone? Seeing as he has already been indicted over other allegations, would it not be prudent for the judge to have ordered the Mayor, an obvious flight risk to remain behind bars pending the outcome of the trial?
