What the...?!?! COSTCO selling long-term Emergency food?!

I am new to the site and this is my first post. I have been researching for weeks on how to get a emergency kit started and everywhere I have looked it was going to be almost two thousand dollars to store enough for a family of four. I am so thankful you posted this information. I am going to order this from Costco now and finally get something started. I feel that in an emergency situation, living through the situation is the top priority. Even if there are preservatives etc in the food that may not be what we would normally want to eat, if we are surviving that's what matters. If we are eating our survival food then we are obviously not in normal mode anymore, and will be thankful for what we do have. Again, thanks so much. I have been so worried about this as I know I need to prepare my family but money is so tight that it has been hard to get started. This makes it affordable.
