Alien invasion scenario

Lets just imagine for one minute that ET's are real and the powers that be come out and confirm this but also tell us that mankind is under threat of invasion for any number of reasons what would we do.

Given all the bickering, wars and killing that has gone on for millenia do you think the people of the World would unite against the common foe or do you think we would just cave in and thats the end of it.

Do we have the capacity to join together for everyone's sake or are we still too primitive.

we would probably try to make peace first. Knowing that hey are more advanced than us it would be the only sensible thing to do. If they are going to fight us anyways I'd imagine that we would have to defend ourselves.
