Man on tea run fined for smoking in 'workplace' van

www.telegraph.co.uk

A painter and decorator who lit a cigarette in his own van while on an errand for his wife has been handed a £30 on-the spot fine - for smoking in his "workplace".

"I was on my way to a shop to buy some tea-bags when the council official pulled me over," Mr Williams, who smokes 10 cigarettes a day, said.

"But I was told that because my van is my place of work I had broken the smoking laws.

"I am dumbfounded - the van is only insured for private use and to get me to and from work.

"It not my place of work - I decorate houses not vans.

This is the kind of thing that makes me angry. It truly is a short step into a hellish UK State. The van is only insured for private use, thats the end of it, why this jobsworth robot decided to fine this man is totaly out of order.

1 Don't stop for anyone except blue flashing lights. Council officals have no rights to pull you over.
2 Don't stop for anyone, ever.
3 If he tries to stop ( overtaking and pulling in front) you he's breaking the law and a total ****
4 If you have to speak to them, argue, don't back down, don't make it easy, don't shout or swear, ask to speak to their superior.
5 Don't except any ticket, don't let them photograph your car with the ticket stuck to it.

These people need to understand we will not tolerate this...

Smoking was made a problem because of the way it became available. Smokers dont grow tobacco, cure it with hundreds of unhealthy chemicles, market it to every class and make them highly addictive.

Sure, some big wig tobacco company, probably some small piece of a giant conglomerate, was dinged with a hefty court ruling in the 90's. What has that done for smokers. Nothing has changed, it just became worse. they just keep adding more crap in them.

Why are smokers suffering from all these new "anti smoking/pro-health" legislations being introduced at light speed. I dont blame the harsh reaction to dealing with these packs of toxic sticks that get sold these days, but that is not tobacco, and they keep saying it is tobacco, Its like lacing basketballs with cocain and then banning basketballs. Makes no sense.

Bigger forces at work here me thinks
