seriously, would you come out of the woodwork here if you were a celeb?

depends on the situation. If I thought it might help get the word out on a topic or issue I felt needed more publicity I would. If I thought my coming forward might help in some way I would.

Originally posted by enlighten2012you have been a member here for years and have prob seen many posts get torn to pieces....imagine a public figures?

on the contrary, I think that our members have, if anything, given chrisonabike a bit more leeway with his story. this is either out of respect for his celebrity status or simply because they read his story and didn't find anything that would push them to lash out at him. Truth is, the posts that get the flame treatment are usually outlandish and wild and backed up with more outlandish claims and no means of verification. Robbie's sighting was told with only the story itself being the so called outlandish and wild claim and he had several witnesses to the event. The posts that get the nasty treatment usually involve sex with aliens, time travelling trips with jesus or ordinary folks who beat up aliens. then you have the horrific photos and videos that are harshly debunked. Robbie simply said "I saw something. it was strange. I don't know what it was. My mates saw it too."

hard to treat someone as tho they were trying to pull a fast one on you when, in reality, they never said anything other than they saw something strange.

only one person here can really say wether or not after all these 'fan' posts that it was the right thing to do or not.

I mentioned it earlier. We've been inundated with posts from his fans. you guys see the off topic tags but you don't see the anonymous posts that are not made live. there are tons of them. yes, he's brought fans with him but some of these fans joined and started poking around and they are now somewhat active on the boards. Rob introduces his fans to something new, some of them enjoy it and become members of the site. Nothing wrong with that. Also, what if one of these fans comes here, pokes around and says "hey, I have those old files grandpa kept from his time in the service and perhaps the folks at ATS will know what to do with them" and then, who knows, perhaps we learn the truth about (insert gov't conspiracy here).

unfortunately, if he does want to become an active member of ats, he'll have to have another user name. remaining annoymous prob would have givan the member more freedom of expression.

for all we know, he does have another name on the site. I do think that he would be able to post as chrisonabike with little or no trouble from his fans. For starters, they are learning quickly that we monitor our forums seriously and that the best way to talk to Rob is to talk to him about the topic at hand. the posts are no longer "Hi, I saw a ufo. It was glowing. Rob, why'd you sing this song after that song at this arena and when you pointed to the crowd, it was at me right?"

thanks for your reply.

i guess if ufology needed a bit more exposure you'd know. i would have thought it already had so, guess not.

re posting, disecting ect. i didnt necessarily mean his inial post, i meant posts in general. i guess i think people on forums tend to be more 'colorful' with their responses and someone in public figure would be judged more by their responses. if you think respected....you have more faith than me (which is great by the way).

kudos to him if he is under another name. make your job alot easier

Hi Cosmicsly ! And hi to everyboby. I'm new to this interesting place. I read a lot of messages till then, from different and very interesting people, and now I want express my opinion about Chrisonabike. I think that my freedom end where begins the freedom of another person. I mean, if Chrisonabike reveals his true identity where's the problem ?
Chrisonabike/Rob is a person like us, with interesting experience to share with us. I think the only difference between Rob and another person is the way in which express his creativity, writing songs and sing. Someone express yourself painting, another writing, another planning houses or making sport. The good thing in this place is that everyone can express experiences and opinion without prejudice. ( Sorry for my English, and thanks Cosmicsly for your attention.) I send a BIG HUG to Rob.

I love Bowie, but I was also not aware he had any sightings, nor about that movie. I guess being a child of the 80's I knew him best from Labyrinth, I am not sure how knowing that he had sightings of his own would have affected my interest in UFOlogy as I had already had my own sighting by the time I saw Labyrinth.

I think I would have found it interesting and comforting to know that he had also had a sighting but I really don't think it would have changed my interests.. now for someone who had no interest in UFO's and had never seen one.. how would that affect them? I think thats hard to speculate because I don't think his experience was very well known.

Off topic... While I was watching your clips my daughter asked me who David Bowie was and I youtubed some of his music video's for her and she said OMG he looks like Mikey! Mikey being one of my twin boys. I never noticed it before but he looks just like him only with brown hair. Crazy!

I think you saw someone posting with an actors picture, people use them for their avatars all the time. Unless the three amigo's state someone is who they say they are.. you should assume they are NOT. If you hadn't noticed hoaxing is common in this forum. Not saying they are hoaxing.. just saying you shouldn't accept anything as a fact unless its verified. This goes for everything.. especially claims of sightings and contact. Its one thing to believe something could exist its another to just believe every story or claim. There is someone walking around with an AV of Bruce Cambell but I am pretty sure thats not him either.
I had an AV of Vaitiare Bandera once from Stargate... but that doesn't mean I am her.

I assure you .. I AM NOT! That actually did cause some confusion at the time so from then on I don't use anyone elses face in my AV's

...nice , in some cases I agree with you.
Regarding the off-topic posts: Like you said most of the off-topic posts are maybe crazy fans.. But you can find in this thread off-topic posts which have nothing to do with stalking. If you make maybe one joke f.e... it can be also off-topic post... In my case it was like that...

But being on-topic: I also didn't hear something about that David Bowie had one sighting.. But he is a great artist..
