And I found this in another thread. Something I didn't hear about, but you know the MSM isn't going to post anything bad about Obama.

news.yahoo.com...

BERLIN - Sen. Barack Obama scrapped plans to visit wounded members of the armed forces in Germany as part of his overseas trip, a decision his spokesman said was made because the Democratic presidential candidate thought it would be inappropriate on a campaign-funded journey.

The spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said Thursday that Obama made his decision out of respect for the servicemen and women, but Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign immediately criticized the move.

"Barack Obama is wrong. It is never inappropriate to visit our men and women in the military," said Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the Republican contender.

Obama's decision raised a number of questions because the visit, which had been scheduled for Friday, never appeared on the schedule of events distributed to reporters who are accompanying him on his travels.

The first word from the campaign about its existence was Gibbs' statement.

Obama had been planning to go to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany before a flight to Paris. Gibbs said the stop was canceled because Obama decided "it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign."

First he says that he needs to "earn the respect of the troops", then he does something like this?

Hey, Barry, I don't think that move got you any brownie points with the troops.

I'm really glad to see so many people here in this thread supporting Obama's speech. Just wanted to say that. It usually seems to be a core group of us who are "sticking up" for him and everyone else is hating on him. So that's nice to know that you're out there, even though you don't always post. And that's ok. I totally understand that.

And thank you, highfreq for posting the speech! I've seen snippets, but I'm going to watch it later.

I also found it interesting that McCain sort of dissed Obama for speaking in Berlin, saying he would love to give a speech in Germany, but would prefer to do it as president rather than as a candidate.

My question is WHY? What's wrong with speaking outside the country as a candidate? McCain did it. Why, now that it's Obama doing it, it's a big deal and better to wait till he's president? What a lame diss. I'm sorry, he's sounding like a pouting, whining baby. He goaded Obama about taking a trip and when Obama does it, he's pissy about it. It's just lame. Grow up.

I guess I am a liberal terrorist unpatriotic socialist trader _____ ______ ______ ______...
Hah funny thing is I was not going to vote for OBAMA until I realized how exceptionally psycho you far right patriotic freedom lovers are getting...

If you stay in power for one more term we are going to be as poor as MEXICO and as twisted as the Nazis.

You guys abused me HERE once to often,,,, keep up the good work, you'll single handedly get OBAMA elected with your compulsive talking points and name calling... just call a couple more middle of the roaders some more names.

is OBAMA paying you???

OBAMA OR DEATH 08 - (my first endorsement!)

Woo-Hoo! That was funny!

Hey, the reason I decided to vote for Obama was that I was looking up the rumors that I read here - researching to find the truth - and the more I discovered about him the more I liked him.

And my support for him has just gotten stronger, the more I learn. So, it's thanks to the haters that I'm voting for him.

I have no idea what you mean by giving his speech in German, but one thing I do know is this.

The words you type will be forgotten in the time it takes for me to go get another beer. Live with that my friend.

Obama was selling a world government. People are best governed by themselves in small groups. That is the principle the U.S. was founded on.

First governed is the individual: You must govern your own activities, appetites and relations.

Second Group, the Family: The family must work together to care for the whole unit.

Third Group, community: This could be a town or city. The people of the group decide how it should be governed relating to taxes, zoning, education and transportation.etc.

Fourth Group -State: The state decides the norms, determined by the traditions and goals of the residents. The state can determine taxes, laws and regulate commerce.
etc

Fifth group, the Sovereign Nation: Determines citizenshp, protects God Given rights, establishes and protects borders. etc

Only a non thinking person would give up all these rights for a World Government where a small elite govern the actions of everyone, where no one has an opportunity to affect the policies.

Let me get this straight. You are fine with 5 layers of government, but WHOA! Don't add one more layer of unity! That would be SIX layers of Unity.

It's not really that drastic of a change on the local level, although it does ensure a much stronger union of western civilization. Thats because I think there are actually two more layers, there is regional, such as the EU, and what might become the NAU. And then there is global unity.

I for one am glad to be alive during the time when it is on the lips of our candidates.
