Anti-Obama sticker leads to terrorist threat.

SUGAR LAND — In case their Plantation Bend neighbors had any questions about how Doug and Wendy McKain feel about Barack Obama, the bumper sticker on their pickup could be a clue.

But when Chynethia Gragg spotted the sticker — depicting someone urinating on the name "Obama" — Sugar Land police say, she stopped to express her disapproval, and that's when things got ugly.

Gragg, 35, has been charged with making a terroristic threat after confronting the McKains, telling them the sticker was racist, police said.

"Mr. McKain said Ms. Gragg said she (would) get someone to take care of him later," the report said.

Gragg was issued a trespass warning and then arrested on the threat charge, a misdemeanor. She was released Wednesday from the Fort Bend County Jail on $500 bond.

Calvin, from the cartoon strip Calvin and Hobbes pisses on EVERYTHING nowadays.

Never mind Obama, just imagine someone follows you home and starts threatening you over ANY bumper sticker. What would you do?

Ms. Gragg is extremely lucky she didn't run into a Joe Horn type and blow her away is accordance with Texas law.

Obama is not the messiah, and criticism of him is not racist.

Consider all the threats anti-war protestors got during the lead up to junior's splendid little war. The quaker church and plowshares for peace offices here in my neck of the woods recieved bombing and death threats every day in early 2003 and later.

It doesn't matter who is doing it, the right or the left... it is still wrong, and at its very core, unpatriotic.

Absolutely.

One of the things that makes this country so great is the freedom to support who you want and oppose who you want.

Who cares if you disagree with someones bumper sticker? Just move on and forget about it.

There are always those who will have different views and opinions than you.

Learn to embrace them, not threaten them.

As have I. (although we don't usually disagree)

It's an interesting topic to debate....even without the politics.

When I read the story I couldn't help but snicker. Getting into a hissy fit over a bumper sticker is unbelievably stupid. Granted, the owners of said sticker were deliberately trying to cause a reaction, I don't think they were expecting anyone to follow them home and threaten them.

If the woman didn't like the sticker, she should have just moved right along instead of causing a confrontation. Now she has a criminal record, and for what -- not liking a bumper sticker?!

I say take it to the polls! Election time will be here before we know it. Just do your part and vote.

I have to go along with the majority on this one. The sticker was completely tasteless but not illegal and protected by the first amendment (freedom of speech). The owners of the sticker might actually be racist, but it would be a stretch to assume the sticker itself is a hate crime, especially in an election year when disgusting and socially unacceptable things are said and/or portrayed against all candidates.

RR I actually agree with you on this one. The fact is like you said Calvin has pretty much pissed on everything so you might as well add Obama to the list. This cop is just another example of our government run police state gone a muck. Keep voting Dem and Repub and nothing with change.

I have metioned it in other posts...so here I go again...this is the same crowd that feels their election was stolen from them 2 times now..not black or white, not rich or poor...but rabidly liberal.

I'm not one given to "the sky is falling" opinions...but if Obama doesn't win, I fully expect trouble , BIG trouble out his supporters.

Funny (yeah right), we very well might have already seen the last peaceful transition of power...something we have always stood proudly on here in the states...

Have there been any updates to this story? I'm curious how it will turn out. I don't understand why she wasn't charged with a hate crime since she immediately starting calling them racists, and made threats of bodily harm? Her anger was apparently racially motivated to some extent.

I can only imagine what the charges would have been had the roles been reversed..
