Belief is growing that the media is trying to help Obama win.

...if Obama is an empty suit you can't get upset that he is potentially replacing a lame duck in an empty suit that is 8 years old...

[edit on 25-7-2008 by phinubian]

In case you hadn't noticed, there are two men trying replace our lame duck. Even if they are both empty suits, only one is a socialist citizen of the world.

PS- I don't like McCain either and I'm putting my money where my mouth is by voting Libertarian this year. The medias coverage of Obama is impossible to ignore- unless you wake every morning and put your blinders on before you brush your teeth...

We are like it or not ALL citizens of the world and America especially has to start behaving like a good citizen as opposed to a spoiled brat.

Yes we are all citizens of the world... Remember that..

America included.

Why should America start acting like the Socialist pansies that think the Government should be taking care of all of us? Obama's Platform

I think that the Socialist/Liberal countries should start acting more like us.

That's the problem isn't it?

There are those of us, like the Main stream media, that just flat out don't like the United States and want to see us emulate France, Iran, Zimbabwe or China.

The problem I see with that is simple.

In just a little over 200 years the United States has gone from being a few revolutionaries with a good idea, to the single most powerful nation the world has ever seen. Can any other countries say that?

Yet still the cries to "Be Like" this nation or that nation. Obama's Platform.

Nothing but continual blathering about how we are going to fail, how this will end, how the deficit will destroy us, this has been going on for the past.. what? oh yeah, 200 years or so. It is just more pronounced now that we have a Socialist/Marxist running for President and being supported by the Liberal/Socialist Media.

Yet NONE of it has ever happened... NONE OF IT

One would imagine that after all the "Doom Sayers" have been proven wrong again and again, people would stop listening; yet there will always be those that just hate this nation and want us to be like.. "Cuba".. Like Obama.

It is very true that:

The only thing we ever learn from history, is that we never learn anything from history.

The Media's support of Obama is a perfect example.

Oh, you mean like helping out during disasters, providing relief to countries that are in distress, maybe throwing a few billion dollars at Africa for AIDS research?

Stuff like that?

NO... we are all members of the human race and live on this planet... ergo we are all citizens of the world... realities that trump nationalities and politics every time.... or should.

Can the socialist/liberal/democrat rant semper its bullhooey... you know its bullhooey and I know its bullhooey and anyone with half a brain knows its bullhooey it contributes nothing to the political discourse other than hystronics and... friend, it makes you look like a baffoon.

Wont be the first time I have been called a buffoon..

I imagine there are those that would disagree with you, but I'm sure you already know that.

The real Buffoon is the very thinly veiled attempts to subvert this great Nations efforts by using such complete drivel as "Citizen of the World" and supposing that "your" definition of "good citizen" is the only opinion that counts... Fairly arrogant behavior for a "good citizen" if you ask me..

Obama is a Socialist at best and a Marxist at worst. I understand that you agree with him and have been memorized by him, but accept that some of us have not. And we refuse to get into "Lock Step" with the "Comrade" regardless of the Media.

But you may carry on as your opinion is valued as well...I have been fighting (Working) to support you having an opinion for far too many years now to deny you yours.

I am not as enamoured with Obama as you think semper. In fact I was for Richardson or Edwards more than anyone.

And no he is not a socialist and you know that.... if he was any serious threat to the status quo and their interests he would have never gotten this far.

grover, you must be a mindless follower! You must! Otherwise you don't look crazy and irrational!

(I actually wanted Bill Richardson or Kucinich. Or Ron Paul. But Obama is the one running that most closely fits with my desires for this country.)

"Citizens of the World" Used by a Plethora of Past Presidents

And John McCain, too! Yes, Thomas Paine, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, JFK, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, BOTH George Bushes and Bill Clinton...

All buffoons?

Obviously my point was missed..

BH, there is nothing wrong with "EACH OF US" wanting to be a better citizen of the world, or a "Better Citizen of the Environment", or other politically correct catch phrase; of course some of these are good ideas for us as individuals.

But the idea of formulating an entire nations progress around the assumption that any other country is a "Better Citizen" than we are, is propaganda... Pure and simple.

There are many that don't like this country and want us to be more like.. (Pick Third World Country Here), as an ardent Obama supporter, I would expect you to agree with Grover, but that does not make my opinion any less valid.

ps... In direct answer to your question..

All Buffons?

Please provide factual information and source material for where the names you provided tried to subvert this nation and/or emulate any other nation.. If you do that, your post will then be at least substantiated.

You must be a Zen buddhist monk or something, because absurd pronounciations like this sure sound like a koan.

Mainstream media want the US to be like Zimbabwe? Really?

In just a little over 200 years the United States has gone from being a few revolutionaries with a good idea, to the single most powerful nation the world has ever seen. Can any other countries say that?

Mongols certainly can. Ghengiz Khan created an empire larger than the US in a short period of time.

Nothing but continual blathering about how we are going to fail, how this will end, how the deficit will destroy us, this has been going on for the past.. what? oh yeah, 200 years or so.

When in the past 200 years the deficit was at the current astronomical levels?

The instrument you are trying to use here is "guilt by association" (with an idea), and of course Obama is not a Marxist, this is the biggest piece of crap I've heard in a long time.

Wikipedia:

Ad Hitlerum can also be combined with ad hominem or personally-attacking arguments. Reasoning such as "you are wrong because Hitler said something similar, and Hitler was evil, so you must be evil too" is doubly false, and as such is also related to the fallacy of appeal to emotion.

I don't know where you got the message that anyone was doing that. If you're getting that from Obama's speech, I'd have to say it's a matter of perception.

The word used in my post was POWER and not relevant to size.

When in the past 200 years the deficit was at the current astronomical levels?

Numerous times when used in comparison to GDP and adjusted for inflation. (ie the only way the deficit means anything more than just numbers)
see here:
Deficit

The rest is simply your opinion to which i have already alluded my stance.

Lord knows they were carrying placards that said exactly the same thing in the 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000 and now the 2100's.

That sort of prediction has been around as long as the world has been..

But we are still here...

Probably will be after we are both gone..

Are you saying Ghengiz Khan was a small time local chieftain?

I didn't make a claim that the names I provided "tried to subvert this nation and/or emulate any other nation". So, why would I need substantiation? I made a claim that they used the phrase "Citizen of the world" and I provided the source.

You, in a round about way are making that claim against Obama. And THAT is your opinion, for which I need no substantiation. Although I would have to say that we could do worse than emulating some other nations in certain areas. But to say that Obama is trying to subvert this nation? Hogwash!

I think BH is ardent in practicing common logic and sense. You, on the other hand, are ardent in making absurd statements about Obama being a Marxist and the evil media - double agents of Zimbabwe and China.

That's one possibility. Another one is that you don't have many points, which leads you to inventing new ones, like the press being obsessed with converting the US into China. Or Obama actually being a Marxist.

This thread is not and should not be about me...

It's certainly not! It's about opinions. I was trying to understand yours and you didn't offer much substance. That's it.
