Was actually researching Centralia the other day, it appears they have taken it off most major maps but it is still there and still burning.

Yes, Centralia is still burning, and I live near it. There are only a few houses remaining and they try to keep traffic out. They even re-routed our local highway around it. I took my son in there so he could see and experience it.

Unfortunately, that is only 1 of over 200 fires currently burning underground in PA alone at this time. The coal veins just keep burning throughout the years; fueled by the oxygen.
