Brown forces Queen to sign way Britains dovereignty

www.express.co.uk

GORDON Brown was last night accused of betraying Britain with a “grubby”surrender to Brussels.

Under a cloak of secrecy, the Government finally ratified the Lisbon Treaty earlier this week and committed the country to a new deluge of European meddling.

In a sign of the Prime Minister’s personal embarrassment over the betrayal, the historic step was only made public yesterday – 24 hours after the covert ceremony had taken place.

The instrument of ratification was signed by the Queen, who had no choice. Because Mr Brown had signed the treaty, she was constitutionally forced to follow suit.

Ive been skulking around ATS for a year now, but this is my first post, I hope it sin the right place.

This is an absolute outrage, Brown has handed Brussels more power allowing them to enforce there own laws in 55 areas. This is bringing us one step closer to a European superstate, with Britain losing its ability to govern itself.

Come on Now do you really think the Royal family isnt in on this as well?????? Of course they knew there would be a backlash and would rather the people of Britain think they were forced into the decision by Brown (Nose).
This whole treaty makes me sick to my stomach but not to fear if the Irish are forced to vote again it will be an over whelming NO vote and two fingers to the french Toad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lets pray the irish stick to there guns then!!

Id like to think that the Royal family arent in on this and the queen did have to sign against her will as ive always believed in her soveriegnty and that her purpose is to protect this country. i also believe she would be against this as it could eventually lead to a dissolving of the monarchy if a superstate is achieved.

I have to say that I agree with you on this.

I also agree in the hope the queen had no choice. And that the Irish keep the vote as "NO".

Just a quick question...Does the army not swear allegiance to the Queen?

If so, then perhaps, just perhaps all will not be lost.

This is crazy, I had no idea this type of stuff was happening in Britain!

I'm not sure why the I'm fears a European superstate, but to sign away a nations soveriegnty without a referendum seems awfully undemocratic to me.

In my opinion there's no way the queen would agree unless its in the best interests of the royal family then maybe the people also i do wonder if she knows anything of the bigger picture or is she been kept out of the loop??. Please dont attack me on that
And not to fear we Irish are a stubborn lot, who do not like to be told what to do. Even if the treaty was in the best interests of the Irish its too late Mr toad put the final nails in treaty coffin in his speech. Karma baby karma!

You are very correct, umbr45, the military swear allegiance to the Monarchy. And that is an interest balance to power in the UK so one could see a situation where the Monarchy could command the army to do something that the ruling Government does not want done.

On the issue of the royal accent, the Queen has little choice and to not sign an act in to law that has been voted on by both the House of Lords and Commons would cause a bigger fuss that the signing of the UK ratification on the Lisbon treaty.

And I agree, we have to hope that the EU elite will listen to the Irish people, and not force them to vote again which I feel would be wrong. But lets face, other European countries has asked their people to vote on past EU agreement until they give the right answer.

We have to face it that our Government is not interested in what the people want. we have elected them for a 5 year term and very little will change what they want to do. The only thing we can do, is make our opinions known at the next general election which will happen no later than 2010.

If people are angry at this, then I suggest you hassle the living daylights out of your MP and make then aware of your displeasure.
