A. The US is NOT trying to take over ANY country. Although it could if it wanted, it doesn't and never will.

B. OIL? If we attacked Iraq for the oil, Why am I paying 4 bucks a gallon? Once again, if we wanted to steal any oil, dont you think we would have been doing it by now? Do you not think we are entitled to some payback for giving the Iraqi people their freedom?

You are definitely not a Vietnam veteran just from your response to that question. Regardless of the statistics and body count.. we left that beautiful countryside with our tails between our legs. And when we left.. it was back to business as usual.

Oh and owning the air did nothing for us in the long run. Its hard to kill an enemy from the air when he is 15-20 feet under the ground in the hillsides. We did not have bunker busters back then.

I have seen hills completely bombarded.. yet the tunnels underneath were completely intact. Please don't speak of a conflict when all you have to fall on is "statistics". Too many friends are still there to be unintelligently used to make a point.

MM I can assure you Most all Americans, want nothing more than to get our asses back to normal here and a heartfelt remorse for things this maniac President of ours has perpetrated lied about and deceived all of us with just about everyone of us wanting his head on a chopping block.

We know when the machine breaks down WE break down and the only way to fix it when it's broken is if the PEOPLE do it. The Government is Broken, we know that and we can't expect it to fix itself so we must do that. I do not like the US government either. I am well aware that the majority of US citizens are appalled by the actions of Bush (he is after all a puppet) and his regime (the true puppet masters). I said GOVERNMENT not the people.

I do also do not like the idea of imposing sanctions on the US What would that achieve? How would that assist the average citizen? Why should the citizenry of a nation be punished because their government is corrupt? That is nonsensical, magicmushroom.

I do not like any of the conflict on this planet but I am mindful that the average citizens of the countries that cause these conflicts are also victims, just as much as the people in the war torn areas.

And this economic downturn is cyclical. It has happened before throughout history and will happen again. I happen to believe that this time the US will suffer, then recover and next time it may be the UK or some other country that goes to the wall.

I would NOT support sanctions against the US if that were to happen. Let's just get that idea right outta our heads

There is an election coming up and I guess we have to just wait and see what comes from that...the next President of the US could be a godsend.

Here's the rub. We aren't going to see One World Government anytime soon, but we are already governed by a One World Economy. One way or another, wealth must be distributed more evenly around the world so that we can move past the bickering over who's God has the biggest thunderbolt. As you can plainly see, the countries in the world where there is a higher level of education for citizens as well as secular governance produce the highest quality of life as well as innovations that we will continue to require.

If you ignore the fundamental reasons for fundamentalist Islam, they won't go away. In some places in the ME, they have sand and oil, and that is about it. Even in Saudi Arabia, the last time I checked, 3 out of 4 terminal academic degrees were in "Islamic Studies". They aren't going to break out on the scene with new technology and industry to employ their peoples unless the whole ME can start loving life more than death.
