The heck is a "disinfo agent?" Ive heard everything from secret agents from the Secretary of the Press, to NSA, CIA, FBI, ect agents sent here to "brainwash" us from the truth. It would seem to me that the government has enough to worry about, and that allocating funds and resources to discredit a web-site discussion forum on paranormal activity is a little arbitrary, whats your take?

Im sure the government employs disinfo agents. I can think of a few members on here that would probably fit that profile based on what they post about certain topics or the threads they start. Or maybe people are just ignorant enough to believe what they read or watch on the MSM TV and post it here on ATS as fact.

Your best bet, would be to look up, COINTELPRO, and study it.

Disinformation agents are people working for the organized stalking and electronic harassment perpetrators whose job it is to prevent the truth from getting out.

Counter-intelligence

The objective of counter-intelligence is to identify hostile intelligence operatives. Once identification has been made, the operative is not necessarily arrested immediately. A decision must be made, and hostile operatives can be left alone for a period of time so as not to reveal the existence of counter-intelligence operations.

Nonetheless, an identified operative must be cut off from access to further secure information, without letting them know their cover is blown. They might then be given disinformation, either directly or indirectly.

Eventually, the operative and his handlers will realize their operation has been compromised if useless disinformation is being passed, but this creates time for the difficult process of "walking the dog backwards" to determine what has been compromised within the target organization.

Turning a mole can make him an unwilling agent of either side, either to continue the feed of disinformation, or being coerced at threat of imprisonment to betray his compatriot organization.

On ATS, disinfo agent is what you call someone when they disagree with you and you don't like it. Or when you can't prove them wrong.
