Here's a couple of cool couples and should be really inexpensive:

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

OR

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

And you know, now that I look at them all, you could almost mix and match. lol

I worked in a halloween store last year and some things are way more common that others. Being original is not easy these days.

How about a smiley face and lap top, or a cat and a mouse. What is old is playboy bunnies, pirates, sonny and cher, wilma and fred, elvis and marilyn, and time periods. You can get away with time periods if it is really sexy or original. One of you could dress up as a bible and the other a bible thumper.

Also as tall as your mate is, (I am 5'11") she can get away with dressing as a man quite easily. I have done it twice, and I fooled people that I had know for ever. Three peice suit, spirit gum beard... you can get it all at a thrift store easy.

A George Bush and Dick Cheney mask.

You can find the George Bush one Here And the Dick Cheney one Here.

For both of I think it would be around $45, but it would be worth it.

You can dress up like Obama and his wife, from the cover of the New Yorker...

All you need is a little make-up, some clothes you probably have around the house and some wonderful antics at your party...

Washing machine and a dryer.

All you need is a refrigerator box cut in half, paint and decorate to make it look like washer and dryer. You could even make a hat out of cotton balls for soap suds
