Well, he was in the Maryland Army National Guard if that makes a difference to you.

Sure he was. He joined the Guard because, as he wrote in 1970, "I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy." This chickenhawk would likely label an active duty soldier facing the same moral dilemma about dying in the desert a "traitor."

I think that just about covers it.

Bravo dude, it's about time someone put their ass where their mouth is. "We" will be right behind you. I promise

I volunteered once, I would have no problem doing it again.

But the kind of war I have in mind wouldn't need any boots on the ground.

I don't see your point since the 'boy who cried wolf' did this numerous times. All we have is the possibility of bad intelligence in Iraq.

What RECENT advances in missiles exactly is Bolton talking about that deem it necessary to attack Iran?

Bolton: US should help Israel attack Iran

The Washington war hawk said that Iran's recent breakthrough in missile capabilities shows that time may be running out to eliminate the threat it poses to Israel.

After researching a little bit on the internet, I couldn't find the "recent breakthrough" he's talking about.

From the info I have found, Iran has had a missile with a range of up to 3,000 km since, at least, 2001.

X-55 Long Range Cruise Missile

On 18 March 2005 "Financial Times" newspaper of Britain reported that Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Svyatoslav Piskun had stated that Ukraine exported 12 cruise missiles to Iran and six to China in 2001. Piskun told the paper that none of the 18 X-55 cruise missiles (also known as Kh-55 or AS-15) was exported with the nuclear warheads they were designed to carry.

The newspaper said it was the first confirmation by a Ukrainian government official that the exports took place. The the X-55 has a range of 3,000 kilometers, more than enough to reach Israel from Iran. The US embassy in Kyiv is closely monitoring the investigation and wanted the findings of a reported secret trial over the missile exports to be made public.

And then there's this one that can avoid radar and deliver multiple warheads.

Success of sophisticated Iranian missile test worries Israel, U.S.

By Associated Press April 1, 2006

Iran successfully test-fired a missile that can avoid radar and hit several targets simultaneously using multiple warheads, the military said Friday, a development which raised eyebrows among officials in Washington and Jerusalem.

The Fajr-3, which means "Victory" in Farsi, can reach Israel and U.S. bases in the Middle East, state Iranian media indicated - causing alarm in the United States and Israel.

None of these are "recent breakthroughs"!

Iran has had the capability to hit Israel with missiles for years.

I could have missed some other "recent" breakthrough, if I did, I would sure like to know what is, if anybody knows what it is and to what Bolton is referring to, please post it.

These missiles have been around for years, but, I guess it's probably just Bolton trying to arouse fear and support from Americans about some "new" Iranian missile threat to bolster support for attacking Iran.

Wow, how valiant. So you plan on bombing innocent men, women and children from the safety of a fighter plane? Grrr, you sound like a real man's man!

Or, or, maybe we could just nuke those Ay-rabs and have done with it all? Kapoww! Boom! Ya know, like playing army with toy boats and figurines in the tub when you were little. Have you been practising on Command & Conquer? Yeah, I think you're good to go, soldier.

Grrr! Manliness! Beer! Hairy chest! Women!

Bolton's a cartoon. A blowhard. A bag of hot air. A chickenhawk. Yada yada yada...

Another cakewalk, another neocon attack (first strike) with rose petals as the fallout.

What parallel universe do these idiots inhabit? Halliburtonia?

Just alittle back ground on this fruit loop

John Robert Bolton (born November 20, 1948), is an American politician who has served in several Republican presidential administrations. He served as the interim Permanent US Representative to the UN from August 2005 until December 2006 on a recess appointment, and resigned in December 2006 when his recess appointment would have ended.[1][2]

Bolton is currently of counsel to the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, in their Washington D.C. office.[3] He is also involved with a broad assortment of conservative think tanks and policy institutes, including the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), Project for the New American Century (PNAC), Institute of East-West Dynamics, National Rifle Association, US Commission on International Religious Freedom, and the Council for National Policy (CNP).

Bolton was formerly involved with Committee for Peace and Security in the Gulf (CPSG), Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Federalist Society, National Policy Forum, National Advisory Board, Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, New Atlantic Initiative, Project on Transitional Democracies, and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Looks like he has had his fingers in the pie

I still think Israel are trying to Blackmail the United States.

The United States does not want a war in Iran, especially one thats utilising tactical nuclear weapons.

But, Israel honestly believe they cannot live with a nuclear armed Iran.

I think Israel has approached the US, saying they cannot take on Iran alone, and if they have to, they will have to rely on tactical nuclear weapons.

But the US knows this will completely screw up the entire region.

So what is America to do?

Assist Israel in striking Iran soley with conventional arms, or allow Israel to strike with tactical nuclear weapons.

Its a tough decision, especially when American never intended on taking on Iran in the first place. We wanted Iraq, and we wanted it over in a matter of months.. but to have it drag on this long, and put Iran on the horizon..

this has the potential for both Israel and the US to face their demise, or face a new regional superpower that could hold them hostage with their oil aspects.

Crap... we're really up the creek.

Basically this whole thing is playing out just like iraq this is all part of the PNAC agenda to basically take over geo strategic regions including the middle east, according to grand mason albert Pike 3 major world wars would have to be engineered for the powers that be to have total control, this has been achieved once the usa collapses it will be swallowed into the NA union and into the global one world governement but first they need total chaos and armeggedon to take place there pawns like bush ect were put into power for this express purpose to engineer events to bring about the ultimate outcome.

the other side IE iran is no different thier leaders are also in on the game, in saddams case he was sacrificed by the hand that fed him the USA and made to fall, as part of a 1st stage take over of the middle east.

How can we forget the PNAC agenda, is was just yesterday when they were planing the take over of Iraq.

Should we refresh our ATS members about this Neo Con agenda?

Established in the spring of 1997 and funded largely by the energy and arms industries, the Project for the New American Century was founded as the neoconservative think tank whose stated goal was to usher in a “new American century”. Having won the cold war and no military threat to speak of, this group of ideologues created a blueprint for the future whose agenda was to capitalize upon our surplus of military forces and funds and forcing American hegemony and corporate privatization throughout the world. In their statement of principles they outline a fourfold agenda:

oldamericancentury.org...

Thanks for bringing this forgotten but very active group.

I highly doubt Israel is working under their own pretense and we're just trying to cover their backs. Do you honestly believe we do not want a war with Iran?

If we engage in a war in Iran, it is because we wanted to. Israel is a means to spread the responsibility. The situation is perfect.

They did not go into the Middle East just for Iraq. It is quite naive to imagine that we are there solely for Iraq... and then, as the Iraq situation loses steam (while soldiers and civilians are still losing lives), Iran comes into the scene. After Iran it's something else. This is not an independent situation in Iraq. It is part of a bigger plan.

And for the people who control our government/military, all is going as planned.

After 911, a friend and I started to pinpoint on the map where our troops were deployed and where they were setting up shop.

When you do this in a chronological fashion, you will begin to see the strategy they are executing for their war games.

I dunno, Iraq was like a wounded dog after GW1.
And since, it has been declared as having the LARGEST OIL RESERVES on the planet, something im sure the US knew before hand.

We knew Iraq was weak, it was rich, its military command structure was 2nd rate and its people were demoralised.

It was easy pickings, and ripe for the taking.

Where as Iran?

Iran is formiddable. Its got a solid military, its got a young populace thriving. Its got size and strength, and lets be honest... Its to big a risk if we lose.

If we really wanted Iran as well as Iraq,we would of done it EARLY, while the 'terrorism' / '911' myth was pumping adrenalin through the publics veins.

We wouldnt of waited 6years, after the public has become suspicous and at the end of the governing period.

I don't quite understand it myself, there must be a reason behind it all, but we will never know the real reason.

With all the weapons the USA has I'm sure they would not even have to lift a finger, NOT that i want another war but why would they not just use HARRP? Then they can say we did not do any thing

Or does Iran have the same weapons?

Iran is the main pillar within The Axis of Evil, the sooner this state sponsor of terror is taken out the better. The world will be a better place for the recolonisation of Iran along with the rest of the ME. We can re educate these people just like we did with the German sixty years ago. It worked then, let it work again.

Which rock did you crawl out from? All of your posts say the same thing, none of it backed up by evidence.

'AboveTopSecret.com takes pride in making every post count.'

What do yours count for?

I can't understand all these people saying Iran needs sorting out, what exactly needs sorting? They haven't threatened anyone or attacked anyone, yet suddenly we need to do something about them?

So what if they are making a nuclear weapon, we (the EU + NATO) have how many thousands? Why can't they have some?

Made me laugh during the Iraq war, how the news was saying the Iraqi's were using banned missiles (with a range of 100 miles) but it's OK for us to attack them with cruise missiles.

One rule for us, one rule for them?

Hypotheticaly,
Let's say Iran does launch ALL of their missiles at one time like they claim that they can do...why cant we just release a huge EMP blast in that area that will cover that area alone?? And hopefully no or very little life will be lost....

Grow up! Use your brain a little, rather then your other brain. This is not going to be between Iran and US... this will start WW3! Go educate yourself a little before making statements you do NOT understand. Russia, China, Germany, Syria and most other middle eastern countries that are tied in financial agreements with Iran will protect their wealth if US attacks. Don't forget.. Iran is not a small country and it will defend itself and many, many innocent people will DIE.

what-t.......you are smarter than that. If that was a "possibility"...then I'm the king of Azerbaijan!

The reference is that even if we can use new "intelligence" to attack Iran, eventually the world stops believing us when there is a REAL threat.

Boltons head is blocked by his huge moustage....Hey Bolton, if you want to attack Iran, which we are hearing for so long now, what are you waiting for, why is it taking you so long.......or is it, that you and your neoconjobs have made a back door deal with Iran to play poker with the Deception game of extorting money from the Pentagon for War Expenses.

We are not fooled with your Poker games with Israel & Iran. It's a huge deception. Just like Communism was a tool for leverage....so now it's Iran
