N Korea pledges to fully disable nuclear plant

www.abc.net.au

North Korea has pledged to complete steps to disable its nuclear facilities by the end of October.

The pledge has been made at six-country talks aimed at disarming the communist state in return for aid and better diplomatic relations.

International envoys did not reach a final agreement on a detailed guideline of how to verify North Korea's account of its nuclear activities made last month, but they mandated a working group to draw up the details.

I have always believed this was N Korea's gameplan....
to get back in with the world, obtain oil and finance, and catch up in general.

Does this mean though that Russia will uphold its intention to supply
Korea with reactor grade fuel, and hence Korea will pullback from total de-activation of its gererators?

I think probably.

Your thoughts?

Cheers

Mungo

I don't know. NK has a history of pledging one thing and then at the last minute, reverse itself. It has always been a scheme to give them more time.

Anyway, hopefully they are serious this time. Perhaps all these years of ever increasing sanctions have finally taken its toll on the country. Only time will tell.
