Report: Teen pregnancies up for first time in 15 years

www.cnn.com

Teen pregnancy is "one of the key indicators for the health of the teen population because it not only reflects their health at this point, but it reflects their health and well-being for the next 20 to 40 years," Sondik said.

The numbers also say something about the health of these teenagers' children, who are more likely to have a low birth weight, said Sondik, which is a "cause of concern."

The marks a fifteen year shift, so it is worth noting, and begs the question, why? This is a best left to a socoligest to answer.

Even so, I'll venture a guess. I believe that over the last 15 years the teen population has been simultaneously infantilized to a point of uselessness by cell phones with text, cameras, music, video, the internet and its social networking yet sexualized to an uncomfortable degree by an exponential increase in sexual content in ads, tv shows and movies geared towards teens, role models and the porn culture spawned by the internet.

Teens and everyone else for that matter don't have to be alone with their thoughts for one second. Every spare second is spent zoning out with an ipod or on useless cellphone conversations. Basically they don't have to think or solve problems and the only thing they still have to do in real life is have sex.

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject. I can't really say if I agree or disagree because I don't really know.

here is a article from 05
news.bbc.co.uk...

the youngets to have a kid in the UK was just over 12,
and that girls sisters also had kids (all three of them under 16
) and their mother had the nerve to blame the state for not teaching her kids anything when she let boys screw her kids in her house inches from her own room.
