It's the door into our garage. I was home alone at the time, so there wasn't anyone in the garage, and it was closed, so I know there couldn't have been any animals or anything in there.

Update:
Yesterday, I was home alone all day, as I am every Saturday.
The whole day, Chewie was moping around; slinking close to the ground, eyes down, and acting extremely odd. I worked today, and when I got home my mom remarked to me that he had been acting strange all day, so I have an objective opinion about it. He is normally quite rambunctious and spirited, even for a 9 year old dog. The only time the past two days he has acted "normally" was when he would resume staring down the hallway, ears raised and attentive. Maybe age is just catching up with him, but this whole thing seems interconnected.
