Russia must punish states hosting U.S. missile shield - analyst

MOSCOW, July 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia must use economic and political means, and military ties with Asia, to punish European states that agree to host U.S. missile defense elements, a Russian political analyst said on Wednesday.

Commenting on a U.S.-Czech deal signed on Tuesday on deploying a missile tracking radar, Col. Gen. Leonid Ivashov, the head of the Moscow-based Academy of Geopolitical Sciences, said: "Russia should not limit itself to statements. We must have a plan, adopted by the Russian Security Council, setting out measures on the economic, political and military cooperation levels."

Got to agree with Ivanshov , as the US ABM could be ballistic missiles disguised as long range interceptors .

In a world where there are McDonald's in Moscow and half of europe buys russian energy, all this makes no sense. It's just troublemaking politicians stirring up hornets nests so they can keep populations polarized.

kazakstan, russia, ukraine , molodva,romania, bulgaria and some greek islands *maybe crete*

and thats as far north as it goes.

Hey, if folks want missle defense systems, they buy them.

If it were a Russian/French/UK/India/China missle defense system I am sure then it would be fine.

It could be a disguised offensive missle....sure....it could be a empty shell and not operate at all.....but it looks cool in the front yard and you neighbors will worry anyway.
