unstar option

Topic started on 10-7-2008 @ 08:10 PM by xstealth

I like starring good posts, but I think there should also be an option to unstar a stupid star.

Like the digg concept, I think this would add a lot more to the topics by having some negative posts and positive posts. We could express our opinions more without posting a useless agreement or disagreement post.

What do you guys think?

If this was to be implemented, do you really want to deal with the drama that would follow?

Yeah, what Lysergic said..and then some.
there's a stupid post for you to "Unstar"
Good grief.

Drama would be an understatement. Yes there may be a slight misuse of the star system, but for the most part it works well, and it gives members positive reinforcement.
To go around giving posts a negative, would be counter-productive in my opinion.
If you feel a post is "stupid".. why not post your thoughts on why..
Give your own perspective and opinion.
Starring posts is a simple way of saying "I agree" without adding a one line post to the thread.
If you disagree, a negative star, in my humble opinion, would be a cop out.
Post your thoughts, and debate, or find another thread.
