Washington - The Senate on Wednesday approved a wiretapping bill that expands the government's ability to spy on terrorism suspects abroad. The legislation, passed by a 69-28 vote, now heads to President Bush for his signature.

What The Bill Does;

Revamps the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which was passed in 1978 after the Watergate scandal; it does not account for recent changes in technology.

Establishes new rules over government surveillance of suspected terrorists abroad.

Allows the government to conduct emergency wiretaps for a week without court orders on Americans communicating with people abroad if government officials can prove the information's importance to national security.

Well here we go again. Of course they passed the damn bill!!! How else did they expect to keep there crumbling empire at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue going for the next guy!

How can a President with the approval rating of "W" keep getting things like this passed???

Well it is signed.....Telecom companies are no longer liable.

I found it amazing that bush used the word "Liberty" in his speech before he signed it. These are his exact words.

"It will allow intelligence officials to quickly and efficiently monitor the communications of terrorists abroad, while respecting the Liberties of Americans here at home."

What an asinine statement, only time will tell if this is used on Americans. Which I am sure it will be. Big brother getting even bigger.

I guess having Barack Obama supporting the bill helped!

President Bush's approval rating is amazing isn't it! It's almost 4 times higher than the Democrat Led Congress! WOW! That is impressive!

Amazing how so many people blame Bush for all sorts of things when in reality it takes an act of Congress to pass a bill. But then again Bush ratings are higher than Congress. Don't blame one, blame both. One for giving away our privacy and the other for agreeing to it.
