Constitutional expert Turley on FISA bill: 'The fix is in'

rawstory.com

Maddow spoke with Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley, who explained, "What the Democrats are doing here with the White House is they're trying to conceal a crime that is hiding in plain view. ... Nobody wants to have a confrontation over the fact that the president committed a felony. ... That's a very inconvenient fact right now in Washington."

"The Democrats have learned well from Bush," Turley said in amazement. "They're just going to change the rules. ... It's otherworldly. ... I am completely astonished by Senator Obama's position -- and obviously disappointed. All of these senators need to respect us enough not to call it a compromise. It's a cave-in."

"It's like all those stories where someone is assaulted on the street and a hundred witnesses do nothing," continued Turley. "In this case, the Fourth Amendment is going to be eviscerated tomorrow, and a hundred people are going to watch it happen because it's just not their problem. ... There's not an ounce of principle, not an ounce of public interest in this legislation."

I am disgusted and demoralized...seems to be a normal feeling for me lately. Obama give his excuse on his website...

Most people don't know they started wiretapping before 9/11!!

I'll bet the congress were the 1st to be listened in on...

Starred and flagged.

This Turley guy is a hero, and needs to be listened to very closely.

This bill is an absolute NIGHTMARE, eroding the last of the 4th amendment that was left. It is a totalitarian and tyrannical gov's dream come true.

The things that are occurring right under our noses in modern times are almost surreal. Like "1984" come to life...

AND OUR TREASONOUS SENATE PASSED IT!!!! 69-28 VOTE

Including Mr."Change" Obama who voted for it!

Gotta love our great big Crime family in Washington, all dancing upon the backs of the "little people" continuously and showing their contempt for us all!!

It was nice knowing ya, 4th amendment!

So, because the government was breaking the law by breaking the 4th amendment, instead of punishing the government... they just changed the rules?!?!?!

WTF...

There really is no stopping it, the fascist state is coming back. Fat load of good the constitution did.

I'm sure he DOES applaud it, since it's covering his own behind on the 30 FELONIES he admits to commiting!!

And with one fell swoop of his pen (with the ever-complicit and criminalistic congress), the mighty decider CHANGED the law so that he and his spies were ABOVE IT.

What a joke this entire system has become. I am sick to my stomach anymore with this endless criminality. Every last one of these people, on both sides (which are really just one party anymore) have sold this nation out.

Bush applauds passage of Telecom Immunity, says He will sign bill

President Bush applauded both major parties on Wednesday. "This vital intelligence bill will allow our national security professionals to quickly and effectively monitor the plans of terrorists outside the United States," he said, "while respecting the liberties of the American people."

"This bill will help our intelligence professionals learn who the terrorists are talking to, what they're saying, and what they're planning," he went on. "It will ensure that those companies whose assistance is necessary to protect the country will, themselves, be protected from lawsuits for past or future cooperation with the government."

I have become the crazy old woman screaming on the street corner.

U.S. citizens must vote OUT all Democrats and Republicans. Obama is as rotten as McCain is as rotten as Bush.

Vote them all out (except for Kucinich and Paul in the house, and maybe Feingold in the Senate...)

Can't people see that Obama and McCain are both enemies of liberty and enemies of the U.S. Constitution???????????

They cannot see this. They are conditioned to ignore the truth.

They have football, and baseball, porn, and 'reality' TV. There are HD DVD movies and flashy movie stars all continuously on display. They threaten our comforts with bogey men, come to destroy us - because we are good people and they hate that. They keep us riveted to 'the news' because - it's instant gratification - you don't have to read, just watch and listen. They 'produce' the news for our 'consumption' and we oblige heartily. Like gluttons we consume their BS day and night.

Then - maybe 2 or 3 percent ask questions about what's happening.., and get laughed at. All that's missing is the circus music.

Government-sponsored corporate-terrorism is now officially upon us. They can, as they deem necessary, target you without any real oversight, they can data mine to their hearts content. It's all nice and legal now.

But I swear to you, should this ever come before a jury of citizens, I will not rest until I am certain each juror knows what 'nullification power' is, and why it's the last hope for freedom.

To me, this means the Democraps get the White House in '08, and they want to have the same abusive illegal powers that the Repulsivcans have been utilizing to gather intel on their enemies. I mean the enemies of the American people.

Can you say quid pro quo? Three times fast? Blindfolded, handcuffed, and gagged? While being waterboarded?

They must be stopped Icarus, or there is no future for the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the USA, Canada and UK. It looks to some as simply an "American" problem in the USA, but it is an organised conspiracy to imprison us and our descendants under a military-industrial system of torture and control.

I got an email from my congressman with a poll/questionnaire about what should be done about the price of oil.
I just about jumped out of my chair.
That's what we are, peons to be bought off, that do not care about the constitution being flushed?

Alls I have to say is it should be quite obvious and if people cant see that there is no difference between the parties then we have some real morons living in this country. Its funny on Keith Olbermann they had feingold on (he voted against it) and he couldnt answer questions like "whats the difference between these parties" he couldnt answer In fact he really stumbled alot when trying to plug Obama for president. Obama is a tool and is no better than McCain. We really need to vote Ron Paul in. I really do feel he is our last hope.

This is disgusting and it will be played down. No story here move along. The mafia at its finest.

You're right, it must be reversed full stop. My lame attempt at humor is a result of the desperation I feel for our immediate future coupled with the medication from the diskogram I had yesterday. I know it isn't right to make light of a travesty of justice like this, but I can't help it right now.
