Every single one of your ancestors that came to America . Under today's standards would be "illegal aliens"

[edit on 7-7-2008 by d11_m_na_c05]

I understand your argument but the basis is flawed, using the example you cited, your ancestors would be illegal aliens too being that they came from Asia circa 10,000 BC. (Now don't take offense I'm simply pointing out the flaw in your argument, as most discussions on immigration tend to start going down that road and then people lose control turning it into a flame fest.)

I however do see some bigotry in this thread(i.e. laziness and such)
The OP was talking about how people were leaving under duress. I agree that something needs to be done about illegal immigration, and the people in this country illegally should either pursue citizenship the legal way or they should leave it's that simple. I do also agree with the point brought up earlier about people not learning the English language. If I were to move to France per se, I could function there speaking English but in order to fully communicate with the people around me and gain citizenship I would have to learn French. People need to learn the official language of the country. (I don't want to hear about Bush making Spanish our second national language. This is not the place for me to go on and on about him pandering to special interests). I understand both sides of the immigration argument but the bottom line is, the law is THE law, and people need to abide By it.

The point is that you could never fully understand the effects of rampant illegal immigration unless it has hit home for you like it has for me and so many others. If you live in a nice, safe, cozy community free from overcrowding, day laborers, ms-13 gang members, overcrowded schools and emergency rooms, you could never possibly understand. You just can't relate to this issue unless you live with it on a daily basis. That's why our government leaders can't understand and won't do the right thing because they all live in segregated communities full of million dollar homes and guards at the community gate. They have no clue what's going on in America.

No matter how the more ignorant amongst us try to make this out to be a racist issue, it's just plain not. If the illegal aliens would follow the rules and live like Americans I really wouldn't care if they were here. Live 4 to a house like normal folks, don't act like an animal in public, don't steal public services that you aren't supposed to get, don't bring your nasty criminal gangs here, pay your taxes and stop with the entitlement attitude. And when I hear that most of them are law-abiding, simple people that are just here to work I think that's BS. In my experience it's about 50/50. Half are here to prey and the other half are good people that just want to work that have no idea how their selfishness and concern only for themselves is affecting the citizens of this country that they have invaded.

actually, while i do understand where you are coming from (most of my first army unit was made up of Lakota Sioux and were very good friends of mine) thats not really a fair statement to make.

MY family didnt arrive in the US until the first part of the last century, so it wasnt MY family out there commiting the atrocities visited upon your people. the US was firmly established by the time MY family got here so while i suppose you could make the argument that anyone that wasnt here prior to 1492 is STILL an illegal immigrant, the reality is that not all of us happen to fit that description.

so, when the issues of race get tossed around i tend to take exception to them. MY family didnt displace anyone in a native tribe for land, MY family didnt own slaves and MY family didnt oppress the native people of latin america for gold.

so, hate me for being white if you want but i hardly think its fair...though admittedly you and your people are among the few allowed to legitimatly laugh when someone says the word "fair".

'BOUT D@MMM TIME!

After putting up with a (civilian) invasion for the past 20 years or so, It finally took real Americans to repel the invaders...Not the government or the military, but good 'ol Americans putting their foot down & not putting up with it any more. It took longer the peaceful way than it would've had we used force (via widespread use of the 2nd Amendment) to repel them, but that's the civilized way.

It just took wider public awareness & the motivation to start sending the invaders back where they came from...Just like back in 1776! The problem with them is that they've managed to infiltrate & regain control anyway. (Okay, you Englanders, this was just some humor based on a marginal level of truth, so don't flame me for that please)

That's fantastic news! Unfortunately, not all of them are going to flee to Mexico or stay there for very long. Many will just move elsewhere in the United States - to a sanctuary city.

As Americans overall have put pressure on the federal government to enforce the current immigration laws, so now must the Citizens of these "sanctuary cities" & Citizens Statewide also must put People Power to work & get rid of the "sanctuary" status until there are none left. Even if it takes Citizens all over America to convince Congress to delegate enforcement authority to the local police, it will still be worth it.

Seems like the illegals where I am though, keep popping out kids and collecting more and more welfare while the 'husband' works under the table, and un-taxed.

BTW, what is not openly revealed about the Constitution & the 14th Amendment is that the "Anchor Baby Policy" is not a valid Citizenship being granted! To be eligible for "born citizenship," the child's parents must be American first...Foreign nationals cannot give birth to American citizens.

The original intent of the 14th Amendment was clearly not to facilitate illegal aliens defying U.S. law at taxpayer expense. Current estimates indicate there may be over 300,000 anchor babies born each year in the U.S., thus causing illegal alien mothers to add more to the U.S. population each year than immigration from all sources in an average year before 1965.

The correct interpretation of the 14th Amendment is that an illegal alien mother is subject to the jurisdiction of her native country, as is her baby.

Although the Supreme Court had ruled in favor of the Anchor Baby policy in the past, they're now turning to the phrase "Within its jurisdiction" to exclude the parents from having Anchor Babies...Since the parents are still foreign nationals & especially when committing illegal trespass on American soil, the Baby is in the jurisdiction of the native country of the parents & cannot be granted automatic citizenship.

By the law, they should abide by Immigration Law to begin with & become citizens or on legal work/education visas. I have nothing against immigrants who at least come this way. The same way most of the European refugees from WW2 came in, with the desire to become Americans.

Your all a bunch of racist bigots. The Mexicans are not killing an entire race of people off for there land .

I'm Indian . It's too bad we didn't have the power/"laws" to treat your people this way .
What an ironic world we live in .

I'm at least one person who is fully aware of what the invaders did to you. Even though none of my ancestors did that...They all immigrated legally & I'm a native American born from American Citizens, so you're generalizing inappropriately against all modern Americans now. But I also think you've gotten a measure of vengeance by being the first to introduce tobacco to the white devils...

This is what the Constitution was written for...Second only to the Laws of Nature as set forth by the Creator: They even left that concept open with room so that the "Creator" could even be the Great Spirit.

As much as defining the Natural Rights of all People (note: not create Natural Rights, merely an attempt to list & define them so that the government knew what they were supposed to defend for all People), the Constitution also specified exacting limitations on what the government was allowed to do.

However, even though the corruption is long & deep, I must admit that more of the Citizen body is actually improving when it comes to sniffing out that corruption & trying to weed it out. The biggest obstacle is that it took the past 3 or 4 generations for the corruption to build up to such a high level, much like the way a spider builds its web...The People are facing a serious choice: Unweave the web peacefully until such efforts make no difference or burn the web down...The Right to Alter or Abolish it, as stated in the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence.

Maybe if your people were more united or had put up a better fight you would have been able to. Since you didn't win the war, you're lucky we let you have what you've got now.

Hey, no need to get nasty about it...That's the same attitude expressed by the same a-holes that kicked them down in the first place.

I think that your otherwise fine argument got derailed here. Socialist ideals did not/do not include slacking off. I don't know where you got this notion from.

Besides what buddhasystem says, America is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic, not socialist, democratic, marxist or anything else...It's just that the government has been corrupted away from our Republic & the Constitution that defines it. However, I've been seeing more People wake up & start smelling the BS...And start shoveling it right back in the government's face.

Disgusting argument, typical colonial thinking

I'd rather you refute, than insult, my argument and thinking thank you very much.

And how is that "colonial thinking"? The Free Dictionary defines immigration as:
To enter and settle in a country or region to which one is not native (Link).
It then defines illegal as:
1.Prohibited by law (Link.

Therefore, illegal immigration is immigration that goes against immigration laws.

Did the Native Americans have immigration laws, or any law governing settlers outside attack-them-if-they-encroach-on-our-territory-too-much? No - so don't try to pull the "you white Americans are just as illegal as the Mexicans blah blah blah" fallacy here.

Seriously, I never said I supported colonisation of the Americas, or had any argument that implied I supported colonialism - that little trick might work on other boards where posters arguing can be cowed into silence by the "you're a colonialist/racist/facist!" remark, but not here, and especially not with me.

Again, how was I "forcing" my beliefs upon others? I merely stated that the current definition of illegal immigration does not apply to European colonisation of the New World - unless you give me some evidence refuting my statement, kindly be quiet.

Not to bust your bubble, but its not like America was belonging to the "Indians" in the first place. Yup thats right, your people took it from someone else. Might have been another group of Indians but it was still done. Don't get too mad at the Whites for things that have been done by every group through out all of time.

Wow, I'm seeing allot of nationalistic bigotry and racism on this thread.

What ever happened to the people seeking work in the states being "Fellow Humans"?

You're treating them as sub-human scum, as if the fact that they were born somewhere else means they are worth less than you.

You know what... I've got a keen mind to keep track of those who despise the Mexicans for wanting into the states.
I say, when the US economic crash occurs, we take you out to a dark forest if you even try to step foot into Canada.

You lowlifes aren't welcome here. Stay in the states and die.

I'll take a Mexican trying to work illegally over a self important yank any day.

I don't care what drives it, religion, or nationality.

Any yank that has a problem with Mexicans seeking work in the US, I will simply not welcome to Canada when the US economy fails.

I'd rather watch them die slowly of starvation than welcome them to my country.

If you exclude people from Mexico, then we Canadians will exclude you.

To any Mexicans who happen to be reading this. Come to Canada, unlike the yanks, we realize what a willing work force can do for you.
... Hence why the states is failing.

To those who are against the Mexicans working for you for next to nothing... keep your failing economy, and stay the heck out of Canada, you won't be welcome.

Haha, I would rather die then move to Canada. See here in the US we have a saying. "*(#)#$% Canadians" First word starts with F. Don't get your panties in a bunch, you don't have the first clue what we are even talking about which is obvious from your post. All you see is bigotry, well you didn't even read the thread my friend.

Hmm.....How many people rushed into Canada during the Great Depression?

America has been through a lot worse than the way things are now and came out of it even stronger.

You lowlifes aren't welcome here.

Good! Who wants to be a Canadian anyway?

Nobody said they hate mexicans.
Most hate illegal immigrants regardless of where they are from. Most people have no problem and welcome legal immigrants.
Do you understand the difference?
