Nobody knows what the heck it is, but it is officially repulsive ... and more powerful than gravity.
We know that gravity holds stars, planets and even galaxies together. But there is also an unknown force working behind the scenes and across the
universe to pull everything apart.
Dubbed, dark energy, the calculations of this force have shown that it comprises 65% of the energy in the universe. Scientists only came up with the
dark force theory in recent years, after discovering that the universe is expanding at an ever-increasing pace. One of the most curious ideas this
suggests is that we will lose touch with galaxies as they expand away from us beyond the speed of light, so that images of them will no longer reach
us, leaving them frozen in time as we last observed them.
