Faceless 'aliens' spotted in crowd at Wimbledon

www.dailymail.co.uk

With the blankest of blank expressions on their faces, these mysterious figures have been popping up in the most unlikely of places.

The faceless mutants have a penchant for A-list celebrity bashes and have been spotted at Elton John's White tie ball and Harrods summer sale, opened by Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall.

With a membrane of skin stretched tightly over their eyes, noses and mouths, the alien-like figures were most recently snapped 'watching' a match perched on Murray Mount at Wimbledon

This is bizzare!

I wonder how long it will be until the CCTV police in the UK start seeing these being worn by non-celebs and call for their banning?

It is already an offence to go out in public with either your face blackend or masked.. so these people could be arrested under current laws in place right now.

A stupid publicity stunt is all this is.. a blooming stupid stunt.

I wonder if these would be affordable enough for use during Halloween?

Could you say photoshop maybe?

Man, I want one of those! Pretty wicked.

As for laws banning masks, how are burkhas (hope I'm spelling that right, been a long morning) handled?

The newspaper article states the possibility of a media-weary celebrity couple making a statement with this ´performance´. I am inclined to believe.

Maybe someone has the time to compare the ears of this couple to celebrity ears?

If I had to wager on who I think they are, I would say David and Victoria Beckham (do they still frequent the UK?)...

First thing I thought when I saw it is "publicity stunt".

It will end up being some kind of commercial.

Yeh - a commercial for face cream, spots, 'who needs lazer eye surgery when we could take your entire face off' type of commercial.

Now there's one, Face Off 2 (or has that been tried?)

I'm blundering on here and the pub is calling.

Hmm.

The guy being driven by the chauffeur looks like Guy Ritchie.....maybe he's trying to hide from Madonna?

Just a few people with some cool new masks, not quite the stuff of ATS breaking news though.

Yup, my (baseless) guess would be viral marketing/stunts for an upcoming video game or movie.

I disagree, especially now that Dan Tanna has said it's illegal in the UK to go out wearing a mask or in black face. If nothing else, it's ATS worthy purely to identify how even in the UK it's one set of rules for celebrities and one for everyone else. Should anyone that wants to be allowed to obscure their identity from the public when out in the public? Does a man's right to privacy extend that far? I think it is very much an ATS worthy topic assuming these photographs are real and not photoshopped.

Here is what it says to me....people are ASLEEP!

How could you not notice this regardless if it is a commercial, publicity stunt, actors whatever...the fact the NOBODY NOTICES is the most disturbing thing of all.

If we ever do have full disclosure, it sure isn't going to matter much, sheeple aren't going to even SEE it.

It's a common mistake. What you have there is scousers fresh off a merseyside trout.

If it IS a publicity stunt it is quite feasable that they requested permission for the stunt with the local authorities beforehand.
However, if this is the case it would in all likelihood leak out.

look at the badges on there left breast pocket in the first picture. I think this is the clue to what its all about. My guess is a movie, preperation for PR but then again it could be somthing more sinster

Looks like people sitting next to them have those badges, too. I'm thinking that may have more to do with event seating at Wimbledon, but since I've never been there nor have I ever watched tennis aside from ocassionally checking out the Williams sisters
I can't say for sure what the badges are.

Thats pretty cool - I want one of those.

It's not quite the same but this guy details how he makes a home made version for his comic book conventions. But those ones in the OP look a lot more professional, I want one to freak the girls out at work - or even the guests (I'm a night porter at a big hotel for the moment - people already say its haunted, but I aint seen anything yet)

commercial-archive.com...

"Who are the faceless people? Or rather, what on earth are they advertising? Spotted at Henley, at Wimbledon and at the start of Harrods summer sale. Might it be an ad stunt for cars? No I don't see the connection either - but whois says that www.facelesspeople.com... is owned by Group Lotus Plc, Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom. That's Group Lotus cars. Wonder what "True Character" will be revealed in 19 days. That car better be good looking as hell after a stunt like that, ya'll."

From the article.ETA: How creepy.
