What ever happened to personal accountability? Everyone in this country can become successful, but because that is the case, there must be some people who are poor. Rush Limbaugh is a college dropout from some hick town in Missouri. He used his skills to become a multi-millionaire. Your metaphor about the caged monkeys doesn't really relate because there is no "owner" giving Limbaugh fame and fortune and holding the original poster down - or anyone else, for that matter.

Rather than whine and moan about how awful your life appears to be when compared to Limbaugh's, maybe you could use this as inspiration to make something more of yourself. After all, if you think he's such a moron, surely you could do better.

This is the saddest topic I've seen in a while.

To base your sanity on what hard working people earn is sad.

The saddest thing about Rush Limbaugh's salary is that almost 50% of it will be confiscated by the government to take care of insane people like the author of this post.

Not one of you here could ever imagine writing a 25 million dollar check to the US Government. Now that would be the day I would go insane!

Did you even read past the first line of my post? I see a lot of folks just need one key phrase to start barking opinions. Kudos to Pavlov and his dogs.

Instead of being jealous of what other people make, why not IMPROVE your marketable skills, get rids of the cats that require 35 lbs of litter, and make a better life for yourself?

Know why Limbaugh got 400 million? Because thats what he is worth to his employer. Know why you don't make 400 million? Because your employer doesn't deem you that valuable.

I know mindless drivel when I see it. I did not have to read past the first line, to realize this.

You are right...your topic and the first couple of lines was all I needed for the bells to start going off. I also give Kudos to Pavlov and his dogs for saving me a bunch of time!

Oh. My. God.

This thread is pure class-envy, hate-mongering ignorance. I guarantee if it was Chris Matthews or some other liberal nutjob getting a $400 million contract extension, the OP would not be complaining.

Rush Limbaugh deserves EVERY PENNY HE GETS. Do you know why? Because radio is a business. Rush Limbaugh DESERVES $400 million because be brings in many, many times that to the networks he works for. If he wasn't worth that money, he wouldn't be getting that money.

I'm sick and tired of liberal, hate-mongering nutcases that have no idea how the economy works casting judgment on people due to class envy. It doesn't matter if you agree with El Rushbo or not. The FACT is, he's the #1 talk radio host in America because he DESERVES TO BE. If he didn't deserve it, he wouldn't be #1, and that is why he EARNED that money.

This is what liberals do - instead of being happy for other people's accomplishments, they try and tear them down because it's not fair that someone is better than them

Here's a simple fact: Rush Limbaugh gets paid what he gets paid because he deserves it. You don't get paid nearly as much because you are not as good as Rush Limbaugh. He's better than you. He's worked harder. He's paid his dues and you haven't. That's why he's on top and you're scowling at him from the bottom. Maybe instead of wasting your time complaining about how jealous you are of him, you could redirect that time and do something positive, like get better educated and market yourself to companies to make more money.

No two people are created equal. We all deserve and equal chance in the pursuit of happiness, but NO TWO PEOPLE DESERVE EQUAL TREATMENT.

maybe its time you turned off your conspiracy web site and relaxed.
I read about the same things as intertainment even though some might hold truth, still get a hold of your self before people start comicly slapping you. So its the end of the world as we know it who cares?
HHAHAHAHA

Excellent post. Be careful though, talking about personal responsibility and equal opportunity over equal treatment is likely to get you mobbed by the ATS socialist brigade. We can't have any republican being successful on ATS without bashing them.

EXACTLY!

It's easier to be jealous than it is to work hard, better yourself and market yourself to a company. The OP is lazy, and he finds it easier to whine and complain about how unfair life is than to actually get an education or learn a trade and market his skills.

This is what liberals do, my friend. They know they cannot compete with hard working individuals, so instead of building themselves up (which is a lot of work), they'd rather tear down the competition. That's the only reason why Obama has a chance for presidency. He has zero accomplishments, so all he can do is try and tear down the opponent by sending out his surrogates to dumb down a hero's war record.

Pathetic
This is why America is falling apart. Because of class envying hate mongers like the OP.

I'm not a huge Rush Limbaugh fan by any means, but I'm happy for his success. I can only hope to be that lucky, and that's why I'm busting my butt in college getting an electrical engineering degree and working two jobs. I want to be something in life, and I'm not going to get there by whining about the wealth of people that earned their income through decades of hard work and sacrifice.

Oh, hey, I have days like this too. I call it pay day... every single one. The ends never meet and it has never mattered if I had more or not because I just intensify my spending.

I am only glad I am not bring up children right now, because everything has got out of hand. I'd like to feel sorry for you but I pay $603.00 a month for rent alone, for a one bedroom apartment in no where land. That is two thirds of my income, and I am not kidding either. That doesn't include my heat, phone or food, or anything else (any one who want's to donate feel free to contact me... lol).

As far as someone making $400 million dollars a year... it is ridiculous, no matter what you do, nobody is worth that much (Well all humans are priceless, but you know what I mean). The governor of California, Arnold S. got paid $50 million for doing "Batman Returns" where he played Mr Frost. It was $50 million for 6 weeks of work, that was the contract. I figured it out, it would be $27,000.00 an hour.

Also I would like to point out that Brad Pitt and his woman Angelina just "leased" a house for three years (to raise their six kids) and paid $51.3 million dollars for it. I could have bought houses for 50 families of the same size. Shoot I was brought up in a house the size of a single wide trailer, and I have 11 brothers and sisters.

To me millions to anyone well that's a little over paid. That is also over twice what I live on in two years, just Arnold's hourly. But I think the key is to not get depressed about whatever is going on. As long a money is around we will all continue to have these problem. Capitalism doesn't work any better than communism. And until we change nothing changes. I too have wrote similar posts, but realistically I can only do my part to help myself and others. ----------------

I'm not a Republican. They're a bunch of sellouts and I won't associate myself with that party. However, I'd give up my freedom before I joined the Democrats. I understand the economy. I understand work ethic. I'm a working class American. I love my country and I love freedom. I believe in Capitalism and liberty. Socialism be damned. Liberals be damned.

Wrong. That's Commie crap. If you make someone $1 billion, you're worth $400 million. Rush is worth $400 million because he makes the network and employs him a whole lot more than that.

glad to see you're over the "hump"....was pondering what to say to your tortured soul, even asked the wife to help, but lot's of other good folks here to help as well I see with lots of encouragement...nice to see in this day & age where people step over the dying rather than stop to help...I was just going to offer the suggestion that "the world changes as you change" I'm pretty sure Deepak Chopra said that first, but I believe it's true. Right to my shoes I believe it.

Another one that I think about an awful lot is by the late William James (U.S. Philosopher) "The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind." Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want. It's the basic law of ATTRACTION. If you constantly think in terms of "can't, won't, impossible" than you'll get exactly what you're asking for. Think in terms of "CAN, WILL, ANYTHING's POSSIBLE....you know what old Henry Ford said once? "Whether you decide you can or you can't, either way you're right."

And another by Ghandi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

much love & peace from Western Canada

sorry post is so rambly but I kept thinkin' of positive things to say...

I haven't seen anyone comment on one aspect. He makes that much money because people listen to him. Athletes, others make money for the same reason. If people are against such outrageous salaries, I ask you- how many of them are not watching the games, listening to broadcasts, and so on.

In directly people who watch/listen contribute to the problem.

Wow, 400 big ones!!! Now that’s a chunk.

I don’t know about the rest of you out there, but I used to listen to Rush everyday back in the Clinton days. I agreed with a lot with the subject matter that he discussed every day. After the Clinton years were past, I think he became an over paid fat head (like Stern is, but at least he is entertaining!!) and this new contract proves it. I realize that he’s made his parent company a lot of money, so I guess he can command a salary of the magnitude, but, damn.
$400 million “F”ing dollars. I’m shocked that radio personalities can get that kind of green! I guess that this recession, pre-depression that were supposedly in is all just smoke and mirrors for the rich getting richer and the end of middle class as we’ve known it.

Cheer up a bit, Arbydol and take care.
