LIMBAUGH SIGNS THROUGH 2016; $400 MILLION DEAL SHATTERS BROADCAST RECORDS

www.drudgereport.com

The American broadcast industry is rocked, realigned and blasted into a new orbit, yet again, by Rush Limbaugh, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

In what is being described as an unprecedented radio contract, Limbaugh will keep his syndicated show on-the-air and e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e through 2016 with CLEAR CHANNEL and PREMIERE RADIO.

Already host of the most lucrative hours since radio's inception, Limbaugh's total package is valued north of $400 million, according to media insiders.

Since this is a Drudge exclusive, I'm posting the rest of the article here, before it is changed:

While newspapers and traditional broadcast media are experiencing declining revenues, Limbaugh's golden microphone has turned diamond-laced:

Earnings now pace him ahead of the annual salaries for network news anchors: Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer — combined!

The deal represents a stunning triumph over the establishment by an outsider who connected with and captured the spirit of the nation's heartland.

And a stunning triumph over all those on the left that seek to censor his right wing views.

***anticipates much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth from the left***

I've got no problem with right wing views. I do have a problem with morons and he's one of the largest. Good thing he got a lucrative contract with someone. He couldn't hold a job in the real world:

I used to listen to him years (> 10?) ago, but grew tired of his "bombastic" delivery and moved on to calmer shows.

My other point is that there are those on the left (Pelosi for example) that seek to use the so-called fairness doctrine to basically censor people like Limbaugh. Like him or not, that would be a major erosion of the right to free speech.

Just goes to show you don't have to be very smart, or interesting, or talented, or good looking, or well informed, or honest, or well liked, or respected, or drug free to make a lot of money in this world.

Gives me hope

You have to give the guy credit though, he found his market and he exploits it well

"England Prevails."

Prothero, V for Vendetta.

*Sigh*

If not for the internet and interactive media that is quickly becoming the goto source for information, I would simply crawl into a hole and die as there would be no hope.

Why are idiots rewarded with more money than I will ever see in my lifetime (the majority of Hollywood and broadcast media gets lumped in here as well)?

He doesn't deserve the GDP of Japan (ranked third in the world by the CIA World Factbook).

How's that for perspective?

I find that people in this life rarely ever get what they actually deserve.

Sad but true

I bet ESPN doesn't pay that good!

So being an anchor on ESPN is a real world job? What world do you live in?

Rush has always said radio was his dream job, even when he worked with the Kansas City Royals he longed for radio. What do you consider a real world job? You can make money 2 ways, work at something you hate and get paid, or work at something you love and get paid.

I'd love for Rush to run for President one day. But like he has so often said 'I don't want to take the paycut." Good for you Rush!

This could be because neither presidential candidate is particularly liked among Rush's listenership. He enjoyed by far his best radio when Slick Willie was in office and I'm sure the company is expecting much of the same when whoever wins this election is sworn in.

I like Rush. I don't always agree with him and I think he sugar coats far too frequently, but I actually like the big lug.

One that doesn't let partisan crap get in the way of my thinking. Thinking? Hmm, interesting concept.

Never happen. He'd be shot. Probably by a REAL conservative.

A little OT perhaps ...

Hey, I like your avatar picture. It might even make me change my vote as Obama appears to be a candidate that that might actually listen to what the voters have to say. Did Obama's campaign release that picture?

2 well respected Mods posting as regular humans!

I respect Shock and Intrepid but I do find it intersting how very liberal most of the staffers appear to be.

It makes for some interesting threads for guys like RR, Centurion, Grady, Texas Gunner, and Burdman. I actually enjoy reading posts by Moderators. Kinda gives you an overall sense of the folks holding the steeing wheel for ATS.

I like most of what Rush delivers. He's pretty quick to whack his own kind if need be. Most people wouldn't know that because it clearly states in the Lefty Handbook in section 12-45 sub heading A: "You will not listen to Limbaugh for any reason!" further: "He is the Randi Rhodes of the right and you all know what that means!!"

This gave me pause to think. I went to the staff registry and totaled what I consider the political leanings of my fellow staff member. I may be wrong but as I see it, 27 liberals, 24 conservatives and 11 I haven't a clue. Different nationalities and all. Pretty balanced imo.

I quit listening to him years ago. What a hypocrite. I'd bet he's not for the "death penalty for drug users" now, is he?

Then it's just the 27 liberals that do all the posting!

Care to comment or perhaps speculate on the political leanings of the Amigos?

Wonder who else threw in to pay that salary. His influence on the idiot right is worth untold billions to corporate america. When he talks about "Freedom" this is what he really means -- as much a whore as
any street walker could ever be -- trafficing in oversimplifications and emotions of people who watch Chuck Norris and Zorro reruns. Americans have been conditioned to need someone to "hero" over. It aint the big bad government either. They just provide interference for the real culprits getting their bonuses saving labor costs by sending your job overseas.

I wonder how much Rush pays the 2 female massage therapists who BOTH rub him down for an hour and a half? Pretty funny that he still needs Viagra after his massage sessions. Illegally obtained I might add.

Can you imagine the stench coming out of his skin from all the cigars he smokes

Only in America can a guy that is deaf due to illegal abuse of prescription pain medication get such a contract for radio.

This is a major win for hate radio, and bigots and hypocrites everywhere should be inspired.
